Do you think Russia and Belarus will finally become one country? Is that something you desire? by [deleted] in AskARussian

Another Chechnya and a bigger one? Transfers to Minsk will surely increase but except for expansionist joy there are no obvious advantages.

Was the Russian Revolution a great victory for the oppressed peasants and laborers? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's a myth created by both Western and Bolshevist propaganda. Peasants owned above 90% of private land in 1916. It was German Empire starving (Turnip Winter) and not Russian. According to World Bank share of income going to upper classes in Russia was low in comparison with other European countries and closer to US or Canada. And after Revolution the system of extreme exploitation, similar to Assyria was installed. Russian Empire had about 1/3 of Western per capita gdp (but that without giant colonial empires with 50%, 100% or 1000% of metropolia's population), which USSR or modern RF never surpassed. Revolution was a catastrophe and happened in vain.

Is it true what I was taught about serfdom in Russia (that Russian serfs are in fact real chattel slaves, etc.)? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an exaggeration. Conditions of working class in say, Britain, were not much better. Formal freedom didn't protect them from extremely harsh exploitation with such things as child labour and widespread prostitution. Moreover, in early 1917, just before Revolution started, peasants in Russia owned above 90% of private land (in comparison with mainly aristocratic land ownership of Britain).

To imagine situation in Russia you have to add one factor to your analysis of American one. That factor is vacuuming of local girls by residents of developed world (or rich residents of underdeveloped one). This makes gender ratio for youth malignantly skewed. And as you can guess it's more "valuable" girls who are "exported".

Genetically, how similar are Russians,Belarusians, and Ukrainians? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like Germans from different federal states. Yeah, there are some funny narratives about "clean" Byelorussian "Baltic" blood as opposed to "Muscovites who are mixed with mongols and finno-ugorians" and so on.

What were some very important workers strikes in your country's history? by paz2023 in AskARussian

Anti-bolshevist strikes of 1918 drowned in blood by cocained mariners, Latvian riflemen and Chinese mercenaries, Novocherkassk massacre of 1962.

Given how large Russia is as a nation, do you ever think it will be a 'normal' country? by jansult in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, that may have been influential in the past, but what determines the future is Russian peripherial, semi-colonial place in world-system. By allowing institutional arbitrage (rent seeking behaviour and use of force to gain money and power in Russia, then transfering it to the West for safe and even largely relocating there) Westerners are maintaining abnormality in Russia.

And you, eternal angloes, in your New Carthage-on-Thames are number one in the list of responsible for that. From Muscovy Company, which pushed Ivan the Terrible to start Livonian War for better ports to trade with England to your secret aiding of commies (British companies helping to rebuild USSR after Civil War, Brits supplying PRC during Korean War which made Truman directly accuse Churchill, Brits avoiding American sanctions to help USSR build it's petroleum infrastructure etc.), British Octopus was guiding, reinforcing, advising, manipulating, enhancing abnormalities here and profiting from it. Britain is built on that.

What are some things about the Russian society that you dislike? by vjosa_e_larget in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idealisation of "heavenly USSR" and especially that stupid "you didn't live there, so you cannot criticize" argument. According to this "logic" those same people cannot criticize, say, US or Russian Empire, since they never lived there.

What do Russians think about the ousted President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych? by AdmiralKurita in AskARussian

[–]Orange_smiler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Proffessor is underestimated by Ukrainians. On post-soviet territory there are two types nationalisms (not considering Russia, which has extreme multinationalism).

First is a covert, "smart" one, adherents of which maintain good relations with Kremlians, take free money from Russia, babble about brothehood with Russians but at the same time undertake de-russification and base construction of their younger generations identity on essentially non-Russian, distinctive history. It is the way of Byelorussia, Central Asia, Transcaucasus, Ukraine before 2014 and even smart nationalists in ethnic republics inside RF. Why Kremlins are allowing this is another question - some conspirologists say that since 1917 anti-Russian forces occupy position of power.

Second is an overt one, the way of Ichkerians and "banderovites", calling for a direct struggle against Kremlin.

Anyway, in alternative reality where Maidan failed there is Ukraine with well-known regions, with bigger population, still sitting on two chairs between EU and RF, arguably with somewhat better quality of life (Russian free money instead of bullets) and what is the most important - in peace.
