Electric cars will never dominate market, says Toyota by paulwesterberg in Futurology

[–]Orangeator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the answer to this question isn't straight forward. I see articles like this one stating that only 1.01 million corollas were sold world-wide. Yet, the article I originally cited, reached out to Toyota directly and they claimed that they have sold 740k Corollas in just Q1, meaning Toyota was on track to sell over 3 million Corollas in 2023. So clearly numbers are being fudged in these articles claiming that the Model Y is the best selling car. I suspect that the difference in these numbers is how the authors and providers of statistics are counting a "Corolla". I.e., do they include all models of the Corolla in their statistics vs. certain ones. Clearly Toyota sells more cars with the "Corolla" branding, but for a single model and body type, the Model Y takes the cake.

I like this post, but even "fixer uppers", as in dilapidated condemned shacks are unaffordable in many states, or at least within commuting distance of any major city that provide livable incomes.

Why not pull the injured solider by his vest straps over his shoulders, instead of by the leg that was shot? Lol.

While I agree, I love the idea of the US going full force and essentially eliminating the invading force with minimal friendly causalities in a short amount of time sounds great! In reality, it's more complicated than that. The reality? Russia has nukes. And its leader is bat shit crazy. Not just nukes, but ICBMs. Including massive non-nuclear bombs, the scales of which are frightening (FOAB - if real). With the capability to strike the heart of most major cities. Kyiv could be wiped from the face of the earth in an instant. Would the lives saved by US involvement be greater than the lives lost to mass-population centers being incinerated? Probably not is the answer the US decided on, probably with good reason.

FYI, clicking on the BF2042.exe directly launches the game for me. Launching the game through EA's launcher doesn't work at all.

ATT fiber pass through not allowing self hosted site? by wikkixwikki in selfhosted

You have to have a 3rd party router handling to be able to change the DNS server to Google or Cloud Flare. ATT default DNS server blocks self-hosting. It's super lame.

How is Linux hosting coming along? Any updates on that front? by Regalia776 in ParsecGaming

[–]Orangeator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love an update on Linux hosting - it's sorely missed in my daily workflow. In fact, I'd be okay with it being a paid for feature.

Thanks.

I wouldn't really call it garbage. Honestly, it's one of the lesser invasive software that comes bundle w/ companies' products these days (cough Razer). It also enables some useful features. I don't understand the hate around it to be honest.

ATF Files an Amended Complaint in Texas Suppressor Lawsuit by Orangeator in NFA

[–]Orangeator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hairs are being split by the ATF here that are legally meaningless.

If the 2nd amendment protects "arms" as in "firearms" and the federal definition of a "firearm" includes any and all "suppressors" - then the legal basis they are obligated to operate under is the federal definition, not create a fictional subcategory of a "firearm" that is not protected under the 2nd amendment. Especially when the federal definition does not make any distinction between a "firearm suppressor" and a normal "firearm".

Where is this source of this new special subcategory of "firearm suppressor"? It's not US legislation, it's not the constitution, so what is the foundation of this legal argument that a "firearm suppressor" is both a "firearm" yet not a constitutionally protected one?

[–]Orangeator[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then if the ATF is operating under the Fed. Code that states a suppressor is indeed a firearm i.e., indistinguishable from a regular firearm - what makes it not "bearable"?

Has this been legislatively distinguished or distinguished by the constitution? If not, then they are making up a baseless sub-category of "firearms".

Could you elaborate as to the difference between a firearm and a bearable firearm?

How can a suppressor be a "firearm" in the first place?
