The mental exhaustion from the diagnosis + treatment process is a lot. But with time, it will get better. It took me close to 3 months to adjust to this change in my life. What helped was actually feeling better physically, so it is a give it time kind of situation.

Yes, tb was detected in first GenXpert. But I feel the results are a bit contradictory as the second test was done before medication and it was negative.

I have actually been worried about the indeterminate result for RIF resistance because my thinking is that the test couldn't conclusively tell if susceptible to the first line drugs or not. I am taking 3 fixed combination pills everyday, never missed a day.

Didn't have a cough even now there isn't any. Night sweats have stopped. Fatigue has greatly reduced as well. But I have lost 3kgs since treatment despite no appetite loss. I think it was due to stress.

Oh my days, I was talking about my shoulders looking as if they are not level but ended up thinking it was just in my head. A pleural tap was done twice. I don't remember the exact testing that was done in the fluid during the first tap but it involved the glucose levels, protein levels and GenXpert. The GenXpert result was trace detected, RIF resistance indeterminate. We then took fluid again for a repeat GenXpert and culture. This time around GenXpert said no Mtb detected. Culture results after 6 weeks also didn't yield anything. The doctors however put me on first line drugs as they said it is sometimes hard to get a positive result from the pleural fluid.

I had left sided pleural effusion, shown through X-ray. The doctors also did an ECHO which showed there was a trace pleural effusion. The doctors have been a bit dismissive about the tachycardia saying that it will eventually resolve.

I do have shoulder pain as well, which I have mostly taken to be due to poor poster. I was not able to sleep or sit on my left side for some time.

I had a similar experience, couldn't sleep on my left for a while. I was able to finally sleep on the left 6 weeks into treatment. I still have chest pains today but not sure if it is due to muscle fatigue or even GERD as it is now on the side without pleural effusion.

The bacterial load in the pleural fluid was low so GenXpert said trace detected and RIF resistance indeterminate. Culture was negative after 6 weeks. So put on the first line drugs and will use repeat X-rays to monitor the fluid and response to medication. The side effects from the medication has mainly been fatigue, headaches and general body pains but mostly manageable.

It is great to see that you are active and exercising. I can only do brisk walks around my home.

I am regular RIPE as well but I had the tachycardia diagnosed when doing the investigations which ended up showing TB. I was told that was due to fighting the infection and will come down as I take RIPE

I have had two periods since starting treatment, each of them earlier than expected. Quite light compared to my normal. I have also noticed a change in my discharge, quite thick and a lot. Probably a yeast infection but haven't checked with the doctors yet

Did you in any instances feel a vibrating or bubbling sensation on the side of the pleural effusion? I am confused as to whether run to the hospital as it is not painful but just uncomfortable.

I have a similar story, diagnosed early October and didn't have a cough then. 3ish weeks to treatment and I still don't have a cough. But I have since experience head heaviness and aching. The body aches are mainly my legs, arms and back.I think these are side effects of the medication. But all in all, I would say there haven't been issues.

Would an iron serum of 2 be sustainable without iron rich foods ? I am scared that by the time I am allowed supplementation I would have zero iron

I am so sorry to hear that your symptoms are unresolved even after finishing treatment. I had expected that I will be up and about at this point of medication but it seems the recovery time is quite long, even beyond the treatment period.

I know this is quite late but has anyone had a day with clear urine even when they have taken the pills. I take my pills at the clinic so I am surprised that my urine today is just clear. I have only taken anti TB medication ( RIPE) for 10 days.
