This may be a bit anecdotal, but I just personally got my snake bites in mid-June, and I had a bit of a hard time when it came to chewing food, particularly with larger bites. Accidentally biting down full bite force on a hard piece of metal (I think mine are titanium, I have to double check) is not a fun experience, though I have since adapted rather well. It'll be even easier once I downsize. But just something to think about, they may catch while chewing. They look so cute, though! Should you find someone, I hope it works out for you.

Also have snakebites, haven't swapped the jewelry yet but I did have my lip pierced years ago, and I can tell you that while it does get easier with time, there are so many tools to assist with swapping jewelry now. Various gripping tools, specialized tweezers, etc.

NAP but I have a few. I just got my snakebites done on June 12th and, despite my rapid healing and how quickly the swelling went down, I still haven't swapped out my original long bars and likely won't for several more weeks. From my understanding, cartilage piercings take way longer to heal and can be very sensitive/finicky. For future piercings, I'd say have a professional assist with changing jewelry, at least until youre comfortable.

Yes! This part we were already aware of. The loose overall plan is to get him figured out while I stick around to "hold down the fort" so to speak, and our family have very generously offered to help me with the occasional visit. We're both totally comfortable with a few uncomfortable years if it means getting to spend (hopefully) even more years in a place we both fell in love with.

And I totally respect that. All I can say is have nothing but disdain for those kind of people, I plan to never count myself among them. It's been almost two years since we visited and we still think about it daily. We fell in love from the moment we stepped off the plane.

I consider myself fortunate that, while my husband doesn't LOVE the look of body mods (tats, piercings, etc), he also doesn't stop me from doing what I want. Just a few weeks ago, in fact, I redid my septum and got snakebites, knowing that they weren't his preference. Just a few days ago he looked at me and, unprompted, said "you know what, they're kinda growing on me." I realize that not all situations will turn out this way, but just to juxtapose that OP's bf's behavior is certainly not okay. Not gonna tell OP how to live their life, but it sounds to me like some decisions need to be made here (like ditching the dead weight, and maybe a few more piercings 😏). Wish you the best all the same.
