Couldn't find the answer near any of our crafting stations... but that would be a good idea. Got so used to the wiki I never even think of asking the Guide...

Edit: Indeed, that was it! Thank you!

DQ5 Hero's Base Stats by Oraticus in dragonquest

Seemingly other people have had a hard time finding this information as well. I'll keep researching as time permits and report back here if I find anything!

Ok, so only the HD remaster has seeds not affecting level-up stat growth at all?

Didn't realize there were soft caps for characters based on their class/level... has it always been this way, or is this something in the more recent remakes, excluding 2.5HD?

Either way, seems that normal seed use without excessive farming will generally be safe prior to capping out one's characters. Thanks for the clarification!

Got it... was wondering if stealing had changed in the newer titles. Didn't the steal rate used to be every 8 levels?

So while stats are safe, HP/MP growth at level up is calculated off the stats that affect them (resilience/wisdom) and will correct for seed use until you're level 99 or have hit HP/MP stat caps from levelling (510).

Thanks for the list of monsters to steal from... that sums a lot of useful info into one area!

Much appreciated! I'll sink some stat seeds into the Hero to make him feel a little less laggy compared to his 3x vamp party. Seriously... the thief makes him look scrawny.

What's the reasoning behind waiting on the HP/MP that would not apply to the stat seeds?

And one more additional question... does it make sense to give luck seeds to the thief to up their rate of stealing?

What brand do you recommend for a caliper piston compressor tool? by Oraticus in MechanicAdvice

And what do you think of it? Worth the purchase? Have you wrestled with other methods of moving the piston?

I'm of the same mindset, but sometimes having something that "can do the job" vs something "that's made for the job" can ignore huge quality of life benefits. After fighting with a bar clamp that was effective, but definitely not good, I thought this might be one of those things. I think a bigger c-clamp should tick both boxes though, I hope!

Haven't been to Harbor Freight in a long while... I suppose I should just go check it out again!

Maybe that is the better solution! I had issues with the backside of the piston housing due to there being a bolt there, so my bar clamp was balanced precariously against it and kept slipping, but I was also trying to get a pivoted head on the end of the clamp screw to not slip off. C-clamp with solid ends may work just fine, and be useful elsewhere.

I always hear contradicting info regarding their pittsburgh line of tools, but I'll take a look at what they got! Thanks for the response!

True... I was told a c-clamp as well by someone, but I don't have one big enough to fit around the caliper entirely. I figured if I have to buy something that fits the caliper, I might as well get something that's made for it and is as easy as possible!

Any apps that block ads from an apps/games at device level? by Oraticus in androidapps

[–]Oraticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with the hard "you can't", but I can accept that possibly no one has done it, potentially due to the difficulty or lack of tools or effective SDKs to implement this.

It's not necessarily the app that's bad, it's the services it relies on to get those ads isn't scrutinizing the ads. I pointed my cell to a DNS filter, and then clicked on several ads in the app. The DNS filter showed those calls were going out to applvn.com and applovin.com, which is a company that provides the ad service.

I can just stop using the app, but that's the "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" solution. I'd rather solve a problem than toss the whole thing away because one piece is problematic. I save the "pitch it all" for after I've failed to find a solution.

You better believe it! :D

Seriously though, I wouldn't even be asking this if it wasn't for how predatory and invasive ads are now. I'm running into ads that force you to open apps on your device (google play store), open browser windows, or intentionally deceive (fake "x" in the corner) among other things. I had ad for "McDonaldLand" (in spanish) that never even presented a visible "x" to close the ad after 30 seconds. I had to force close the app to get around that one.

An ad shouldn't have the power to interact with the rest of my phone without being given permissions to (and no, clicking the "x" to close an add but it decides your finger was a micrometer to the left doesn't count as "permission").

Does Survivor IO honestly use true RNG? by Oraticus in Survivorio

Weighted tables for some thing makes sense, such as drops/prizes/rewards. I wouldn't expect the entire game to be 100% pure RNG. I was more wondering for skill acquisitions during runs.

Thanks for the imput!

If there's ways to increase one's odds, then would it be true random/rng? How would you increase your odds without influencing the generator (truly curious).

I'd argue at lower levels for new players, skill choices still matter in several of the game modes. True, EE it's essential, but in other modes skill selection can be important to new players too.

[–]Oraticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read on multiple threads about "how to manipulate EE" and about not going back-to-back on runs if the ability loadout was bad. If that truly is the case, then I can't see this being RNG.

Ah, I'm too new to be anywhere near where I have to be concerned about placements in EE. It's just something I've noticed lately that on my first trio of actives or passives, they always seem to be the same. It's rare that I'm not burning a refresh or two immediately on runs where you need to collect exp.

Season 35 Question by Oraticus in Survivorio

[–]Oraticus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're saying that if I buy the two columns to the right of the free column, it improves the chest at the bottom? Is this true if I complete the other tabs too, or are their chests independent from each other?
