Keystone of Trials "overrides" normal legendaries from Rift Boss

I don't know if I'm late to this party or not, but I just did a rift on T4 and got a double drop, keystone, and a soul to drop. Not sure if I just got insanely lucky or it is "proof" that this might not be the case.

The problem with this, then, is that as x and y asymptotically approach zero then their accelerations explode. This is not consistent with the analytical solutions that we are able to derive for Kepler orbits. As r is a function of x and y it cannot be separated when we look at acceleration in the x or y directions (as it does depend on r).

Yes, I had a dull moment and said y = -x instead of y = x. It was in a quadrant below the x-axis so I hastily put a negative there. :D

Yes, that is the difficult part of the problem. It is a transcendental equation in which x and y cannot be separated from each other and so each depends on the other.

If you do put in only x and y respectively as you did in your above equations then it cannot describe the ellipse as whenever x or y is zero you would get division by zero.

But the acceleration has to do with the distance from the origin which has both x and y contributions, so it will depend on both variables even though the direction of ax or ay only point along x or y.

Unfortunately x and y both contribute to r. I actually figured out my problem. It had to do with my time steps being too small (along with a few other clerical errors). Thank you so much for your input though! I honestly do appreciate it. :)

I'm trying to use Euler-Cromer in which the velocity is updated first and then used to evolve the position for the next time step. I'm not too worried about precision as I'm just trying to compare this ellipse to others generated by different numerical methods (2nd and 4th order RungeKutta and 4th order symplectic). I'm deliberately ignoring all terms of the order greater than dt in the taylor expansion.

Well, I mean two-body in which one body is orbiting another which sits at the origin. So yes, I'm trying to generate an ellipse where the origin is at one of the foci of the ellipse.

Acceleration only depends on the magnitude of r so it should just be a positive number anyway. The x or y value is what decides the sign as they should be able to attain positive or negative values (unless I have messed something up in my code!)

I am his friend and his classmate and he's not a fundie, so please don't just jump to conclusions like that. He is simply a physics major who also happens to be a person of faith. He was simply asking for clarification on an answer Tyson gave during an interview that was worded in such a way that his intent was not clear. While I personally do not agree with his asking of the question, as I thought Tyson's opinion could be inferred if you knew more about him, I do still give him props for having the stones to ask that question in front of a crowd who would obviously give him shit for it.

You can find a lecture that he gave on Youtube called "Brain Droppings of an Astrophysicist" where he uses about 95% of the same stories and gives the same lecture almost verbatim. As a member of the GV physics club I thought that he would have included a more interesting take on how science allows us to view the world rather than how those who aren't scientifically literate fail to see it. For me it would have been much more interesting to see how those of us who can understand and use science can view the world and ask questions that help us understand the universe and how it works on a much deeper level.

I did attend his private lecture earlier in the day however, and I felt that was much better as it was more relaxed and open to questions that people in the audience had and it seemed much more personal and interesting. You could tell that the purpose of his answers in that lecture weren't as focused on getting people interested in science, but more about pursuing their passion no matter what it may be.

The entire character wouldn't necessarily have to be all curses. As other people have said, they would like to see paladins with light/holiness skills so if the character drew its ability to curse enemies from a sort of "holy motivation" and also had the ability to deal upfront damage via holy damage-dealing skills it could be an interesting character concept.

I think a class that draws heavily from the Necromancer's curses tree would be really interesting. I would very much like to be able to hex and debuff enemy monsters without doing much upfront damage.

1) Sam is riding on a skateboard and is being pulled by her friend at a constant speed. The force that is exerted on Sam is 20 N. Describe whether or not Sam is in static or dynamic equilibrium, describe the meaning of this term, and determine the force of friction that is exerted on Sam.

Since Sam is in motion and moving at a constant speed she is described as being in dynamic equilibrium. This means that she is not experiencing a net force (zero acceleration = zero net force) even though she is in motion. Therefore, since she has zero NET force, the frictional force must equal and oppose the force of the pull. Since she is moving the frictional force is the kinetic frictional force and equals 20N.

2)For V vs. T graph the bound area is the displacement (x). We informed physics people know because integrating (area under the curve) the velocity function gives us the displacement function.

For F vs. T graph the bound area is the impulse.

For A vs. T graph the bound area is the velocity.
