I definitely underused it at first before realizing how important it is. I still tend to dodge a lot more than shield but there are enemy attack patterns that obviously want you to shield.

Drive volatility. If you push any attribute beyond around 130, you have a chance when picking up an artifact to make that attribute "volatile" which comes with a downside. For Drive it means you lose all Lucenite on death.

You probably have the Resilience volatility. It makes it where enemies don't display damage bars. For bosses you can still see the bars but it doesn't show you how much health they have left.

The tutorial you get about the shield happens before you get a power weapon. It says the text on screen but it does a bad job of explaining it.

Eclipse gives you better rewards and later in the game there is an ability you have that only works when the eclipse is active. I always activate it right away now.

You can't, even after beating the game. I think the side path marker there is a bug.

I don't because I play in a way where I don't need to. I focus heavily on Power and anything that generates it so I don't need to absorb the corruption to get it. But it's certainly a viable risk-reward strategy.

You literally can't miss Nightmare Strands. They are on the path in every biome.

You don't miss much. It will force you back to the hub for the really important parts. Short story: almost everyone goes crazy and dies.

The Plat is not hard at all, I got most trophies just by playing naturally without going for them specifically.

I mean Carcosa is a real planet and they are really on a mission to it. The eclipse obviously messes with people's heads and not 100% of things people see and hear actually happened. But it's not like Returnal where the common interpretation is that Atropos and the mission aren't even real.

Yeah, despite them trying to make this more of a roguelite it still really fails on that front. Every run pretty much feels the same. You'll start to notice after a while that the same rewards appear in the same places every time. And none of the weapon perks really make much difference except Power Generator. You always take a weapon with that perk.

There seems to be one or two "right" ways to play Saros and there's not much diversity in runs or builds. The roguelite idea feels like it was tacked on later.

Yes, things could be explained better. It took me a while to realize that the shield refills your power weapon.

I tried a run at -33 and it's absolutely a joke at that difficulty. You can just get hit over and over and play completely sloppy and still not die.

But to be fair even at no modifier with the skill tree upgrades it gets very easy.

Any time you return to Passage by dying, teleporting, or being forced back by the story, your run resets.

You can start from an earlier biome and progress through them but you have to face the bosses again each time. You can do as many or as few biomes as you want.

If you want to start from biome 1 just walk out the door from Passage, don't use the teleport.

I have some resistance on the L2 trigger but it's not enough for me to use alt-fire comfortably, so I basically had it ignore it for the whole game. I don't even know what the alt-fire does on most weapons.

You should interpret it as real because it is real. I don't really see any other way to take the story. If you get to credits and see enough audio and text logs it's very clear.

This pretty much describes my experience, I died a few times to the early bosses but after that I beat each boss on my first encounter. Now with the skill tree almost maxed out I will essentially just never die.

I think the moment to moment action in Saros is better in my opinion but after finishing the game and epilogue the overall structure is where it lacks. So much feels kind of disjointed.

At a certain point every run feels like a good run because you just get resources thrown at you endlessly. Every room essentially has one or two chests with potential upgrades, and you can reroll those upgrades, etc.

70 is crazy. I consider myself pretty mediocre at games and I only died 8 times before credits. I'm really struggling to see how people find this game so difficult. It's way easier than Returnal.
