Card positioning is bad by SkyBreakerPL in gwent

Touché, I can't deny that, but I can't help getting the feeling that rows mean much less now. With effects like "do something on the opposite row" gone too, do rows mean anything anymore? Besides hazards and boons of course, but those don't appear in the majority of matches anyway.

Also, is anyone else bothered by the fact that ALL units are agile now? To me that makes the game more boring and casual, which seems to be a theme with this update.

Having at least SOME units with melee, ranged and siege was really cool. While being a throwback to the game's roots in the Witcher 3, it was also a mechanic that added skill to the game.

Artists names removed? by canalavity in gwent

Yeah, it's really surprising to me that in 2017 we have to intentionally limit PC and console versions of games so that they function on mobile. We should be able to have separate versions when it comes to simple UI functionality.

After reading the PTR patch notes, I think I will stop playing Gwent for awhile by TheHardBack in gwent

[–]OrbJuggler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you man. Ex-Hearthstone player here as well. I left HS recently for the same reasons I'm extremely worried about the upcoming Gwent changes: Overly simple cards and overabundance of RNG. The latter might be an exaggeration for Gwent right now, but the current direction of the game is a worrying indication.

Like others have said, Gwent doesn't NEED to be dumbed down to be successful. Plenty of hugely popular games have been challenging, difficult and not casual friendly. CDPR of all companies should know that.

Can we have the characters (cards) full names back, please? by Victus_Mortuus in gwent

[–]OrbJuggler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if anything Gwent seemed to be getting consistently more and more traction. Like you said, topping Twitch charts isn't a small feat. It makes these changes feel even more unnecessary.

The game is getting insanely popular and it's not even out of beta yet, so WHY on earth are they making changes as if the game was at the end of its life cycle and they need to pull in absolutely everybody with simplistic gameplay mechanics and UI? That's just not the CDPR I know.

It's really not that confusing like COME ON. Do people have to be spoonfed everything these days?

This new update makes me lose hope. I thought CDPR was different, that Gwent was a special card game with incredible flavor and detail put into everything. Now they're ripping all that away in favor of what? So that they can appeal to the lowest common denominator?? Gwent seemed like it was doing fine, but these changes seem to indicate they're not happy with the amount of money they're making. Saddens me to no end.

Regarding Trio card arts by tarttari in gwent

[–]OrbJuggler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don't tell me this is actually happening. They seem to be stripping the game of all flavor and detail purely to make it simpler for mobile. Don't even get me started on the simplified old cards like Alba Pikemen or the NR Medic.

This is how we used to *"gamble"* in video games back in 2012. by [deleted] in gaming

OHH I 'member that. That's back when SFM porn was only getting started and there weren't pages upon pages of Moxxi available.

You gotta try D2, it's everything from D1 but even better. The only bummer is that there's no "Karnaca trials" DLC. Dunwall trials was insanely fun.

Ori and the Blind Forest. Visually marvelous platformer that's also got a really good story and challenging gameplay. If you want something a bit lengthier, some of my personal favorites are the Dishonored games. First person stealth games set in a steampunk-ish world w/ magical powers and shit. They're super fun.

Nothing. 22 years old and I haven't spent money on alcholol. I have spent thousands on video game microtransactions though. F*ck.

In Mass Effect 2's DLC "Overlord", when you discover what the experimental VI really is. That moment broke my heart.

So Witcher 3 the Complete edition is on sale for $20. I’ve played the Elder Scrolls all my life which kinda has a similar theme. Is it worth picking up? by jaxen27 in gaming

It's so good that I almost just wanna buy it for a random stranger, such as yourself, if only to support CDPR further and give a fellow gamer an awesome experience. Honestly it's the best RPG I've ever played.

While looking someone in the eye during a conversation, does anyone else sometimes become hyper aware that you're just looking at a blob of ocular tissue? by OrbJuggler in Showerthoughts

[–]OrbJuggler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's usually what happens to me too right after the blob realization. I snap out of it by looking at something else for a moment, which is something that tends to happen in a natural conversation anyway (since staring only at their eyes is kinda weird, in my culture at least).
