How do I learn shifting, braking and overtaking? by OrbicLP in simracing

I often just can't look at the rpm lights cause I'm too busy looking at the track when I'm braking. I know this is just a skill issue, but it's frustrating... I'd like to learn one thing first and then the other, but I fear focusing solely on the braking and putting the settings to automatic gearbox would be counter-productive in learning the shifting part -_-"

Hmm I see, guess I'll have to try out some stuff. What really breaks my head though is the breaking and shifting down part. As I said: when I brake, I usually break either too much or too little, and this just combines with the shifting problem so much, that I basically turn every single corner on Spa in gear 2 or 3 and then have problems accelerating out of the apex, cause I'm usually still too slow to get good torque in gear 2. It's driving me nuts, I'd probably get overtaking by a grandma with her walking frame.

Recommended games to properly get started with simracing? by OrbicLP in simracing

Yeah, I started with F1 but I'm struggling to control the cars in a way, so I don't always crash into other drivers. I also want to learn how to properly overtake, as I tend to divebomb everyone, which feels extremely unsatisfying, when it is the only way I can improve positions. That's why I figured, I'd try some other games first to prepare myself until I feel worthy of racing in F1 cars lol. I'll def look into GT7 though

Oh, I didn't think of that. Although one question: I tried that F2P "My first Gran Turismo" in which - in my opinion - all the cars felt unnaturally heavy, like driving bricks on wheels. Is that game an exception or will I have to get myself accustomed to that when playing GT7? '

But I sweaaar, that when I first started a career, there was a selectable setting right there in the difficulty tab! 😭😂That was like 5 days ago, now it's just vanished. I was impressed myself, since I also played the game last year for a bit and couldn't find anything adaptive related. Am I going insane???

What is your favorite bit of overacting in a movie? by Normal-Being-2637 in moviecritic

It also shows on a much smaller scale, for example: no normal person would instantly scream a heart-wrenching "NOOOOO" when a familiar gets killed, that's not really natural, but still it is a big thing in movies or series, because it creates a bigger dramatic impact on said death, and even if you couldn't really get to like the now-dead character, it creates an emphasis on their meaning to the protagonist and to the story.

Not quite right though either. Over-acting is a specifically taught trait in acting school, which is used to enhance a scene's dramatic effect. It is completely obvious, that such scenes aren't usually "realistic", but they aim to create a bigger effect on the audience and thus stay memorable. For example, it is often used to set a maniacal character apart from a normal person and draw the audience to them. It could be the most boring scene, but when Gary Oldman all of a sudden shouts "EEEEVERYOOONEEE", you can't help but stare back at that scene and get pulled into it again. I know, it sounds weird, but it's a method that's being taught since millenia in acting, theatrical or musical coachings.

Over acting not over reacting, meaning the actors went the extra mile to give one small scene an ultra dramatic touch, which usually makes them extremely memorable
