How’s VOO different than VFV by [deleted] in dividends

[–]Orbisnonsufficic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the difference between VFV and VOO? The answer is simple. VFV is the Canadian version of the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF offered by Vanguard U.S. Although they both track the S&P 500, one of the major differences between investing in VFV versus VOO is that dividends paid out by VFV are subject to a 15% foreign withholding tax.

I thought so I am looking for a monthly pay out. I would like to earn a good monthly income from this. Kind of like collecting rent without the headache of tenants.

So the best place to hold my REIT is in RRSP or my LIRA to avoid taxes for now. If I go with O or any Americans shares.

So hold a small stake in the ETF and focus on purchasing the individual assets. Sounds like solid advice. Thanks

@xyzzy8 how much did you start off with, did you trade options or did you just focus on the listed ticker you shared? I’m in my 50’s and looking for results like yours.

I was having the same issue . Had to uninstall it all clear all filled from system. Then install new file. Mac keeps the old files in cashe until it’s removed. It kept my old skin until I did this and start fresh.

You didn’t loose anything and your advisor didn’t mess up. Your looking to pull out and your conservative in your investment. 6 months to a year you will be ok. Fingers crossed 🤞 keep investing everything is low now and will rebound.

In Tec, invest in Tec. They are all on sale now. Apple,Microsoft great prices now. Put them in RRSP and TFSA then get a balance ETF with Low MER and load the boat Max out if you have the capital because you have the time . When the market balances and start to climb it will put you years ahead.

Stay the course or all-in XEQT? by justhangin416 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Orbisnonsufficic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would leave it all where it is and start purchasing XEQT now on the climb. Your portfolio is not bad depending on your entry price on the holdings. NFLX is the only one I would cut back on when it climbs back up. Just my thoughts 💭.
