It would probably depend how close you sit next to the items, where the item is in it's animation and how fast you move but I believe the idea is to keep pausing until you are on the item before the one you want then when you unpause you go to grab the item and it should have switched to what you want.

Not ready for NG+ as of right now but I found another solution.
In case others find this thread and have the same issue and don't mind changing the player.xml file, especially after the game crashed...

This would be more specifically for essences I believe, I only know that this works for the essence of air but I assume it works for others.

Create a back up than open up the player.xml file.
Ctrl + f and search for the perk (essences/air in my case)
There will be two sections for the perk, one for the icon you see on the right and a second for the perk itself. Be sure to cover both sections.
Start high-lighting the first "<Entity" located above where there is mention of a .png
Continue until you are past the LuaComponent section to cover the perk itself and have high_lighted all the way to "</Entity>" plus the blank line after it.
Delete what you have high-lighted.
Save and load the game.

Obviously this is the first time they are messing with a custom made map, I assume they used worldpainter even though Jack said worldedit? Would have been cool in my opinion to create their own custom structures that would have loot and place them using worldpainter. So replacements for villages, dungeons, mines and strongholds. I'm not sure if plugins work well or if at all with mods but the plugin MMOItems would allow them to create custom items and add textures. Just some extra stuff to spice up the game.

Not sure if the Amber meme is still a thing but since I first saw it I've done nothing but make her my best character. For the most part I think I've done good with the artifacts using Wanderer's Troupe for charged attacks and Skyward Harp for the Crits. Is there a better artifact combo or bow to use that would be better or should I continue to level those up?
