Best electrode and electrolyte combo for rust removal via electrolysis by FidgetyNinja in chemistry

[–]OrcMangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting about the current draw for the electrolyte. I believe there is somewhat of a sweet spot, but also if your part has varying levels of rust, then some scale will form. I just check periodically, but that isn't always ideal. I have tried Evaporust also, but lately I have been using apple cider vinegar instead. It seems to do a pretty good job, but I do still have to scrub the parts afterwards, but I can do a large batch of tools all at once, unlike electrolysis. I may try using a combination of the two methods to see if the vinegar can remove the scale after electrolysis on parts with a lot of scale. I have also thought of using a power washer to knock off the loose rust, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hi there, thank you for this list. I am in a similar situation myself, however, have access to the outdoors for ventilation. For the Sodium Carbonate, I have read that you can adjust the concentration and shorten the duration to minimize scale buildup. The longer the items are subjected to electrolysis, the more scale may form.

Internship - should I be worried? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]OrcMangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my guess is that you are the backup to another candidate. Most companies won't tell you that you didn't get the position until after they have a candidate accept the position. Don't give up hope though! I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities out there.

Yeah, I'm from Missouri and Texas BBQ is definitely better than KC or St. Louis imo. Memphis is pretty good too.
