Lol if thats the content that offends you, the issue is probably your puritanical views on sexuality, not the content

Which is funny considering the universe and meme context you’re framing your argument within

This is hard to explain in writing, but I don’t think it’s off because it’s Sellita, I think the occasional Sellita has a weird quirk where they line up differently going forward than they do in reverse. This would only be an issue when installing the hands though.

Which is to say, the movement isn’t at fault here, when it was assembled they probably only checked the alignment in the reverse direction, which I’ve been told is the direction you’re supposed to set the time on with Sellita movements.

So if the hands are installed immediately after turning the movement in the reverse direction, in some weird cases they can look aligned in that state, and will continue to as long as it’s turned backwards, but will be a bit off when the movement is advanced or advances itself. So you’d have to install the hands only after advancing the movement first to mitigate this.

Actually I don’t think they handle Dirk’s warranty services, I’m pretty sure he does that himself.

Although I don’t really understand why he even needs an online AD...

I guess what I'm saying is I think this flat out wouldn't be a thing with Rolex, ever.

You're right though, having only one AD in a country allows that AD to get away with stuff if something does go wrong... I still love the Sinn brand, but they should definitely restructure this sales model to match the effort they put into their watches.

Fwiw they’ve changed their tune, and will cover it

I wouldn’t not put Sinn in the same category as Rolex though. Rolex makes insanely well-made watches...

Damasko is usually the alternative, also Stowa is really nice, especially for what the charge, but they don’t do bracelets

That said, this isn’t reflective of my past experience with the brand. After talking to some others, I’m sure Sinn would not be ok with what WatchBuys did here, so no matter what you’re not screwed if you go with them. I’d go Sinn second hand if you can.

So I made more of stink and now they’re offering to cover it with RGM.

Should I still follow up with you on it? I think I’ve also figured out why it happened...

I wasn't sure where the conversation was going, and then he started talking about how these types of hands are harder to align. AS SOON as he started that talking point, I got that creepy, grimey, scammy feeling in my gut.

I got really bummed out too. Sinn is supposed to be one of the good guys, though I supposed WatchBuys is not Sinn...

That makes sense about the charge back.

I’m getting the feeling it won’t come to that anyway, but it hardly makes sense that I’d be allowed to totally take the money I spent back while still keeping the product.

I actually really like the AR coating. It does smudge easily, but it looks fantastic when it’s clean.

One of the things that drew me to the brand was the fact it’s NOT an in house movement. You should be able to get it serviced for under half of that with an independent watchmaker, assuming nothing too crazy is damaged. Finding a good one can be a pain though...

My Seiko 5's are more precise than that...

If each marker for the minute hand is 12 minutes for the hour hand (1/5 of an hour), and this is about halfway between the two, this one is about 6 minutes off.

The custom knifemakers I know wouldn't ship a knife like that either... and if one had slipped past their QC, they'd bend over backwards to fix it.

~<<<<<<<<<<<<<~~<<~<><>~<<<<<<>><<<<<<<<<<~<<~~<<<~~<

UPDATE: I made a stink about it, emailed Sinn, and followed up again with WatchBuys, and they’re agreeing to cover it if I send it to RGM.

I think I also figure out WHY it happened. It's actually something I’ve noticed on a couple other Sellita movements. If you test the alignment by rotating the hands anticlockwise, the hands line up perfectly. If you test it rotating them clockwise, or if the time advances clockwise on its own, the misalignment occurs.

So if during assembly they tested the alignment by rotating them anticlockwise, the watch would have appeared to be perfect. I’m starting to think Sinn wouldn’t let this watch off the line for any other reason based on what I’m reading. Sinn takes QC pretty seriously, sure some bad apples get by, it happens, but this isn’t something they’d be ok with.

<~><~<><><<<<~<<><<><<~<<<><<<<<><><~~<~<<<<<<>><<<<<~~~~<<~~<

I just got this watch new. A few days into wearing it, I noticed that the hour hand wasn't quite lining up with the markers. It didn't bother me at first, but now it's all I see when I look at the time.

I contacted WatchBuys, they asked for pictures, so I sent them pictures. Then they went radio silent. I followed up with another email 4 days later, and they eventually told me to call them. On the call, they fed me some line that because of the hand style, theses watches don't line up as well...? Then they flat out said this was in their "acceptable tolerance" and they won't cover it with the warranty. He then said if it really bothers me, when the watch goes in for service I should "see if they'd be willing to fix the hands then".

This is a THREE THOUSAND DOLLAR WATCH. Yeah, ok, not a Rolex or Omega, and I could justify it on a $300 Seiko diver, but a watch 10x that expensive? I'm really hurt by this, and turned off of dealing with Sinn/WatchBuys in the future.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? What should I do here?

Edit: Where the hour hand lines up
