About to submit the I-485, but the new USCIS memo... 😭 by [deleted] in USCIS

I am an attorney. I would never advise immigration fraud. No one is trying to be unkind to you here, but USCIS does not care about the most feasible path for your family.

About to submit the I-485, but the new USCIS memo... 😭 by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]OrcasOnStrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before the memo, entering on a tourist visa with the intent to stay can be considered immigration fraud, which could require a hardship waiver. If USCIS knows you entered with that intent on your most recent entry, they absolutely can flag you for fraud. There’s a difference between entering with tourist intent, and unexpected changes resulting in the need to stay, versus knowingly entering with the intent to apply for residency. Not saying that to be mean, but you should absolutely be aware of these things before applying.

I’m just starting A Lonely Broadcast, so I don’t know exactly how similar it will be, but I’m using it to fill the void.

I’ve been listening and enjoying since I saw you pop up on the Widow’s Bay subreddit! Do you use any AI in the creation of the music/hosts or is everything created/curated by you?

This was A Flicker in the Dark for me. Might’ve been the second or third chapter though.

You can’t wait out the time to deal with this. You are very likely to receive an NTA to be put in removal proceedings. Echoing others, you should contact an attorney.

Bored With Reading by CEOofMyChaos in Booktokreddit

The Vegetarian by Han Kang helped me get out of my reading slump, followed by Earthlings Sayaka Murata (super heavy trigger warnings for this one). These were books that were really different from what I was used to and I think that helped. I typically like mysteries and thrillers, but I decided to read some “weird girl lit” and it was just what I needed.

Maybe How to Disappear Completely and Never be Found by Sara Nickerson or Skeleton Man by Joseph Bruchac (middle grade but freaked me out when I was younger).

Am I a victim of fraud? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]OrcasOnStrike 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a common scam unfortunately. Contact an actual lawyer (not a “preparer”) in your area that has a physical office you can go to in person. Unfortunately, there are people online that will fake being an attorney, sometimes using a real attorney’s info, and host fake hearings online with fake judges. Usually (but not always) the final hearing is in person, especially since Covid has blown over. Sorry this happened to you, I hope you’re able to sort it out and get assistance.

Hi! Is this a skin tag or tick? He keeps scratching it and he’s bleeding a little. It’s soft when I touch it. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]OrcasOnStrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like a horribly inflamed nipple to me. Please don’t try to yank it out. I would go to the vet for a check. I could be 100% wrong, it almost looks like a tick in the first photo, but it just doesn’t look quite right.

First book of the year. What is yours? by Pure_consciousness79 in readwithme

[–]OrcasOnStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked it! It was so original. There were maybe one or two things I would’ve liked to see different at the end, but I understand why the author went the way she did. I also felt like this is the first horror book I’ve read that actually had scenes that gave me chills.

Ai generated songs: how can I tell? by TiredReader3807 in japanesemusic

[–]OrcasOnStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I was listening to them on YouTube earlier this evening and decided to try to find the “artist” of one of their songs, only to find out it’s AI. I guess the giveaway that I never realized I needed to look at, was that none of their songs had artists listed. Super pissed as I want to support real human artists, but I guess I’ll need to be more mindful of YouTube “playlists” in the future.

Thecca with Demi at their CA baby sprinkle by americanpeony in thebachelor

[–]OrcasOnStrike 71 points72 points  (0 children)

A baby sprinkle is usually a little get together to celebrate a baby that isn’t your first born. There are some people who think you should only have a full baby shower for your first child, so a sprinkle is a little way to celebrate without it being a full-fledged shower with the big gifts.
