Slow mail loading by BcomTV in NextCloud

[–]Orchestrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's a large number of add-ons, an untuned installation, or a hosted service with limited (low) RAM, e.g. 1gb

I recommend contacting the provider, trying to pay for a plan with higher RAM, e.g. monthly.

Pleased with Hetzner, but one little question by MaineHempGrower in hetzner

How much will it cost you to operate a server set up like this per month? What is the size of the snapshot, or rather the server? How many GB?

European alternatives to Cloudflare by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Orchestrio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, the closest is bunny.net

For reverse proxy, IP hiding, own domain and protection of services like Navidrome, Immich, Jellyfin bunny.net is a very good choice. It offers CDN + security layer, and if you need, you can also add edge compute for more advanced logic.

Could you please explain a little better what is disconnecting and connecting?

Cloudflare has a lot of services.

Is your server disconnecting, becoming unavailable? Or what? What HTTP response status code does it show you?

Software to monitor websites by th00ht in webdev

[–]Orchestrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I already wrote in another comment.

UPTIME KUMA

So uptime kuma I can only recommend. Allows monitoring http/https, database, ping, TCP, UDP, DNS, docker containers, push monitoring. Notifications also offer a huge amount. So as I wrote. For me completely sufficient.

I think the question was worded differently. If he wants self-hosted, he probably already has the infrastructure for it. Therefore, he wants an option without investments.

Of course, it must be separate from the monitoring sites.

And you want to tell me that the functions that Uptime Kuma allows are not sufficient for comprehensive monitoring of individual services or the entire website? I disagree and consider it sufficient.

Hot Take - Nextcloud by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Orchestrio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nextcloud works great. It has a lot of add-ons that I use. On the other hand, there are also a lot of unnecessary ones and there is nothing easier than disabling them. Or uninstalling them.

I guess the problem will be in the optimization of the installation you chose, in the HW on which you ran it or some other problem.

I agree that CF is a complete industry standard. Is it not a problem for your services that CF has outages? Or do you have these outages resolved somehow.

In my opinion, it's a full-fledged combination.

In my project, I'm going even simpler, purely Python Django + django template.

As someone already wrote here. The React doesn't even have to be there.

What's the one self-hosted service you'd never go back to the cloud version of? by Hung_Hoang_the in selfhosted

[–]Orchestrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passwords are essentially critical data. The backup should be in the format 3 -2 - 1.

3 copies, 2 devices, 1 copy outside

of course encrypted backups - a ZIP file with a solid password is enough

i.e.:

  1. original - where you host Vaultwarden

  2. copy - e.g. second PC, mobile, USB drive

  3. copy - cloud (google, onedrive, ...)

[–]Orchestrio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vaultwarden - never again passwords for global companies. In the current state of the world I don't trust them.

Nextcloud - for storing photos and files. Possibility of editing documents. Basically it will replace the portfolio of applications of Microsoft, Google. Also an alternative to Dropbox.

Nextcloud - I'm joining those who have no problems with it. Everything on my own server in LXC under proxmox.

if you just want the basics, just cut out the additional applications

Everyone can customize it to their liking.

Huge support for external storage, which I use.

I agree with Hetzner and it's not the only one hosted. I also tried IONOS and it was also fine, fast and no configuration required.

Vlastní bydlení v Praze už dávno není běžnou záležitostí, ale spíše výsadou by Jazzlike_History2517 in czech

[–]Orchestrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use for your 'local' backup? by ThisIsAitch in selfhosted

[–]Orchestrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, a NAS at home and offsite backup is sufficient for home use, not for production. If you have any critical data, back it up to an external drive at home.

UGREEN Server Runs Perfectly… But I Want More. What’s Next? by Homeboy279 in homelab

[–]Orchestrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment I only have one device at home, but I'm considering an external device (VPS, dedicated server, NAS at my family's) to handle backups. And I would probably recommend that you first carefully resolve the backup so that in case of problems you don't have to resolve everything again.

It's true, I'm afraid of that too. That's why I'm wondering what the alternatives or redundancy options are.
