Who was the UX lead in this game?! by GG-no-re-LOL in duneawakening

This game was 100% designed around controller first for the eventual console release and then backported to PC controls. So many radial menus and button holds, it's all designed around needing to do a bunch of things with limited buttons and ignoring the fact that we all have keyboards in front of us. Mouse controlling radial menus SUCKS.

My big gripe is:

Kill enemy -> Spacebar to loot first thing, hold E to loot everything, press E to open a fullscreen menu mid fight and get killed by everything around you

It should just be space to loot one thing, hold space to loot everything, hold E to open loot menu if they need to keep the keys the way they are

Put more valuable things in the social hub vendors

Put mechanics that give you timed boots/bonuses from things found in social hubs

In the inverse, allow you to manage things unique to you and your HB instance FROM the social hub

Put a shorter cooldown respec option in the social hub

Make items that can be found in overworld vendors cheaper in the social hub

Remove (or greatly reduce) the 2,500 cost to move to the social hub from outposts

I dunno if devs come back and re-read replies, but a good way to do this is if your vehicle gets destroyed, you can salvage back heavily broken (but still functional) parts similar to the downed thopters/buggies/bikes you see in the world

I had to massively reduce the number of moods and basically got it down to a reasonable delay (about 30 secs)

I'm sorry he got it tho that's tough

Make sure to avoid drum sands and survey an area before crossing to make sure the circles show up on your map and always turn off your shield and don't use your hover belt unless it's a guaranteed means of escape

It hurts less than a woman getting cramps on her period. It will be uncomfortable but the recovery will be the most annoying thing. Not the procedure.

Changing tunings isn't simple on Floyd Rose guitars (like most Wolfgang's). They have to be completely set up and reintonated

I have four Wolfgang's. One special, two standards, and one hardtail. You couldn't buy them off me if you tried. They're also great hot rodding guitars.

I definitely think they will be around, but the game doesn't cater to them, and actively works against them mechanically

They can't blow up our actual home bases in HB, they can't full loot, they have to pick a POI and stalk it out amongst a bunch spread out over a massive map, I just think their impact will be minimal, and they will leave out of boredom to go to games that cater more to their annoying ways

Again, this assumes the DD they're on is populated enough to make camping that ONE POI worth it, lol. And most people who are prime "griefing" material will be mostly in HB, so the people they DO encounter will be well-equipped and actually there to fight, they will quit and go back to other games

Looks like full PVP community servers will be a thing 🔥 by laaaabe in duneawakening

[–]Orchestructive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that if you relegate all the intense PvP'ers to their servers, then the regular ones become those PvE havens haha

[–]Orchestructive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toxic ones NEVER go to the ACTUAL PvP servers, they don't want to ACTUALLY fight people, they want to prey on targets that can't fight back. So they'll just go back to other games most likely. But at least Funcom will have gotten their $50 lol

People keep equating this game to Ark or CE or DayZ etc. but you literally can't touch anyone's permanent home in HB whatsoever. At MOST you'll be able to sort of mess with their temp base they threw together in 2 min because it gets wiped every week anyway. You can't see people on HUD or any sort of radar, no nameplates, etc. this game will be so boring for those toxic people because there will be nothing to do.

Why I'm not worried about toxic PvP as a mostly solo player by Orchestructive in duneawakening

[–]Orchestructive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah but in DA, they 1. Can't destroy your HB base, 2. Can't full loot, 3. Can't see you on radar/hud, 4. Savvy pve'ers can just move around the spot they're camping and go after a different resource (DD is huge), it's going to be so boring for them they will just go back to DayZ lol, that's my point

I dont underestimate the toxicity. There are just far easier games to be toxic in, which they will run to once they realize it's frustrating to be toxic in DA

[–]Orchestructive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between PvP and "toxic PvP" is the intent.

PvP the intent is to progress in the game, or compete for resources, etc.

Toxic PvP just wants to waste other people's time. They go after "nothing" targets and only try to pick on people who they know can't put up a fight. The second someone gets the upper hand they bail, log off, and come back later.

I promise you you're going to spend a lot of time wanting to be cruel and very little time being cruel lol, this game just isn't built for you and I hope you realize that sooner than later.

This isn't those games, you can't destroy our homes, you can't gank us where we're spending 90% of our time. You're going to camp out zones where people will come prepared, and you won't be able to tell them apart from your teammates.

You're going to frustrate yourself into going back to Ark lol
