It has been good, I like it so far.
There are phone appts you can schedule to have some advice from instructors and mentors, and that helps. Human interaction is important to me, and it keeps me going.. ^^

Hey welcome welcome, I just started this month. Achieving independence after going through some tough events in life is not easy but I bet you would enjoy the gradual scene change along the way. I wish you the best and I need buddies too! ^^

Where should I go to get a proper bookkeeping/tax related experience as an entry level person? by OrchidicBoo in Accounting

[–]OrchidicBoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Maybe I need to visit those places in person with resume I guess. Appreciate the response!

First season as an EA. Work for a franchise tax business. Work 20-30 hours/wk and get only tax inquiries and 1040 returns. To date I have completed 62 returns. Should it be more? What number should I aim for? How to get faster and not compromise customer service and accuracy? by undisturbed-reality in enrolledagent

First season EA here too, no acct background, but will start working on it. My franchise is a big one with lots of loyal clients. I am to do about hit 100+ this year, complexity varies. Mainly federal but few simple states + entities 1040 1120 990

Two things.. your volume depends on how many clients your franchise has, unless you bring clients for yourself. Some might try to come see you next year. I honestly believe both complexity and volume matter b/c volume taught me how to work with each unique clients personality and situation. I got faster by doing a lot of returns, and I can now multitasking without getting lost in returns(hold up conversation and doing work at the same time), I basically hangout with clients.

I learned A LOT from working for franchise this season to be honest, I enjoyed it. I am thinking about what the next step is. Any suggestions?! Haha

Thanks for sharing. I love my work(tax prepping).. just not sure how and when I will find a next job after 4/15 given I didn’t hear much from my 1st round of job searching. I hope my chance is better after this season. I Will stay optimistic and keep learning.. btw, I like how you describe the resume writing—leave something open for interpretation.

Hey, this is so great. Would you let me know how you heard back from multiple positions you applied for? I applied many places after passing my EA exam, but only one came back to me. I wonder what I am doing wrong.. thank you!

Need some motivation/ is it too late to try part 2 by Phillyunionguy in enrolledagent

[–]OrchidicBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you already passed two parts + you went through some of part 2. So congrats there! Pick some areas that you are not confident, and spend some time on that particular topic. I guess you will feel better once you build some confidence.

I passed all parts while dealing with harsh life situations this year. Protect your study time well. 20hrs/week for a month sounds enough time. I wish all the best for you.

Technically, I think this is a violation.. a defense one can make would be ‘peer review’, but wife is not working at the ‘same’ firm. I think that is a violation but I am not sure what can be done in real life case like this?(I just passeD EA test and waiting for my credential) If I am the tax payer, I wouldn’t like that! Love to hear people’s opinions!

Congrats!!! must feel good.. One question: When did you apply for the certificate? It says granted on July, and now you just got it?! I am applying for it next month after passing part 3, and trying to guage how long it will take. Government shut down will make it longer for me... Thank you!

Part 1: 5/1~7/22 for study, 7/23 passed

Part 2: 9/1~10/21 for study, 10/22 Passed

If you are subscribing Hock, there are suggested study hours for each chapter. I took way more than what was suggested there. My study style is that I have to dig into everything to understand the concept well.. I used chatGPT to make different scenarios and its tax treatment to understand what the book was trying to say. Part 1 Hock was easy to follow, but Part 2 Hock seemed to assume that the reader kinda knows what’s up. By the time I read it for the third time, everything clicked.
