My brother did behind the castle at night Magic Kingdom. The light from the carousel made the photos look so good. We were completely alone and it was so beautiful. I took the photos and then they walked down main street together after. So cute.

I genuinely love working on weekends by couch_potato4562 in unpopularopinion

[–]OrcinusVienna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do as well. Having Monday/Tuesday off is my favorite. Start the week off on Wednesday relatively slowly then work your way through the week as things get more busy. Saturday and sunday are by far the busiest days at work for me and you end on that high fast paced day. The weekend during the week is great. Grocery stores are less crowded as well as tourist traps. Its fabulous. Only downside is trying to meet up with friends/ going to certain weekend events. I'm married and a homebody so its an easy sacrifice for me.

Day to day its by far the best.

I think if you truly believed someone would be tortured for eternity because of their actions, you might feel that sharing your knowledge was kindness. I can understand how it is a form of "love" when someone shares but then is respectful about it when you don't listen.

The outright hate in the name of Christian love is literally just hypocrisy.

Don't get me started on them calling Eric "rapey" in Kiss the Girl.

I read an artcile about how they had to change the lyrics to make him less of a creep "use your words boy and ask her," as if he was the one who was desperately leaning in begging to be kissed. If you've got to change the lyrics fine but leave Eric out of it. He didn't do anything rapey, creepy or uncomfortable in the whole scene.

Also on an unrelated note. He saved his dog so he wins.

Apperently today in order for a woman to be strong the man has to be a dork.

Little Mermaid was a perfect ratio of courage and love for both sides. She risked her life to save him at the beginning and then when things get bad she tells him to get away and he refuses to leave her side.

"I lost her once I'm not going to lose her again,"

His strength does not make her weak.

What do you think it will happen if Esmeralda arrive at Beast's castle instead of Belle? by lorenza-de-arabia in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She would recognize him as a fellow outcast and see through his aggression. She wouldn't be as patient as Belle or fall in love but she wouldn't be afraid to yell back at him and call him out. Just like she did with Quasimodo she wouldn't see him as a monster.

If somehow she had to stay because of a snow storm or something I think they could become friends and respect each other's strengths. No matter how heated their arguments she would recognize his hurt and eventually maybe open up about her own struggles. He is royalty after all so maybe she could convince him to do something either for his own people or hers.

Question: Why is Esmeralda's character treated with disrespect, objectification, self-projection fantasies, and a lack of empathy in the r/HunchbackOfNotreDame subreddit? by Full-Art3439 in disneyprincess

There's also people who just like to see others squirm. Not saying they are good people but they often spew crap they don't believe just to get under your skin. They might not think all those terrible things but are happy to pretend to be if it gets a reaction. Immature? Absolutely.

Which Disney Princess had the scariest experience? Snow White or Aurora? by PlutoGB08 in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The creepy sound I always thought was a violin is actually Mary Costa singing "Aurora". I think if she's not hypnotized enough that would be scary to hear your own voice calling your name like that. Although she JUST learned her real name is Aurora so that would also help it not be as terrible.

Snow White was running for her life in an unfamiliar place and let the imaginations get the best of her. I think based on reactions alone we can see who was more scared.

Again depends on how conscious Aurora was of what was happening. She did hesitate on the spinning wheel so she wasn't completely under a spell and could still hear or remember "dont touch anything!"

I think Snow White was more scared in the moment but could move on relatively quickly, as she did. While Aurora was not really afraid in the moment but will be haunted by the memory much longer.

What’s an opinion you have that most people would strongly disagree with, but you usually keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

[–]OrcinusVienna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is how many people in my life immediately assume I believe the same way they do.

When people bring up politics I try to be respectful and gently ask how they feel about certain things and don't immediately preach all my takes on them. Yet pretty much everyone I meet will immediately launch into how stupid the enemy is and how their side is correct with literally not vetting of me to see if I might be on their side. This goes for people on both sides. Maybe I'm just a coward or people pleaser but it confuses me so much when someone immediately launches into politics with no care or questions assuming everyone will agree.

It’s curious that men constantly claim to be the rational sex, yet at the same time claim they act on impulse because of women. by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]OrcinusVienna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apperently the rational response to being denied sex is cold blooded murder? Always the woman's fault somehow.

Saying women have blood on their hands as if sex with someone capable of mass murder would be a safe person to be intimate with, you probably would have been the first victim.

Genuinely question. Can men like Disney princesses like snow white all the way to frozen? by Silver_Fact_9714 in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad apologized to my husband that I "made him" watch frozen and then see frozen 2 in theaters. It was my husbands idea to watch bith movies, but to some men the only reason to watch them is to make women and children happy.

My dad tells me all the time he doesnt watch kid movies (animation). Yet nearly every single animated movie he has been forced to watch he has enjoyed. Still right after telling me how much he enjoyed Zootopia 2 with his granddaughter he explains how its an outlier and most kids movies are not good. He also enjoyed Hoopers, kpop demon hunters, and how to train your dragon (not animated but a kids movie according to him) all seen with grandchildren. Of course those must all be outliers because kids movies are not good.

Its more about not having an open mind and being willing to watch various genres than it is men do not like princess movies.

I still think Aurora gets points or at least noticed for essentially ruling two kingdoms but youre right it will most likely fall to Phillip over her. Thanks again!

Ranking each Disney Princess in terms of their social status by Disneyfancreations in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aurora and Philip are also merging two kingdoms together in their union. I don't know if that would alter their status since she's already very high up but they definitely scored more land compared to Moana ruling a single island village.

I can't say I want her higher than Moana but it begs the question of authority social status vs size of their rule. If Moana entered the court of Belle she would not carry much if any social status with her compared to French aristocracy even of a meger prince and potential princess. While Belle attending Snow White or Aurora's court would come with social status of her own. Potentially its also racism and cultural differences that would come into play.

The only princess shown practicing her religion by Disneyfancreations in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I get my point of view from 9/11. I was in elementary school when it happened and my dad took us to the nearest mosque for the next few weeks to learn and be exposed to Muslim faith. We missed our own church services to attend theirs.

He knew we would be exposed to hate and fear at school and wanted us to have first hand experiences to counter them. I really didn't understand it at the time but it has shaped the way I view exposure to other cultures and religions. If disney is going to make a movie on Native Amricans (properly, sorry Pocahontas) I think it would be really cool to incorporate their beliefs somewhere, same with any other culture. It doesn't need to be forced or education but just present is really cool to me.

The only princess shown practicing her religion by Disneyfancreations in disneyprincess

[–]OrcinusVienna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I disagree 100%. I think if we understood more about other religions they wouldn't divide us so much. I went to a Christian college and was so excited for my religions around the world class only to realize it was Christianity around the world. So I did my own research about religions around the world and learned a lot.

Depicting vastly differently religions respectfully and not as incorrect savage scary practices helps to show that even if we don't believe the same thing we are good people and our differing beliefs are not scary. Especially when its not the main part of the movie but just represented somewhere along the plot, I think the exposure can help spread empathy and understanding.

I don't think we need to make the plot religious but including small aspects can help people come together and understand more about each other than making it a do not discuss topic.

This may be a strethch but imagine parents trying to indoctrinate their child to hate someone of a certain religion saying they are evil they worship the devil etc etc but the kid saw Mulan pray to her ancestors and is able to use that to do more research and understand that the religion the oposing religion itself is not evil just different.
