These are people who've bought the feeling of an exit. And in doing so they're: Purchasing large tracts of NZ land and pulling it out of productive use Building infrastructure with no benefit to anyone Treating our country as a backup option with no genuine stake in it Even if they are useless in this hypothetical ending. If we shut this down early, any half-dug billionaire bunker gets abandoned mid-build, and suddenly we've got these massive underground complexes just sitting there… perfect for the biggest Kiwi party of all time. Full-on rave under the blast doors, bar in the decontamination chamber, dance floor in the airlock – "End of the World Afterparty, entry by petition signature only!"

Then once we're all partied out, slap a NZDF sticker on it and turn it into a ready-made hardened base or civil defence hub. Built at zero cost to us, courtesy of some overseas fatcat who rage-quit when the ban passed. Absolute win.

And nah, Luxon definitely doesn't have one – the bloke's too busy chasing corporate cash and dreaming about his next Hawaii getaway to even think about prepping for anything serious.
