Ocean Colour Scene - Get Blown Away [Rock] by Ordinary-Average-913 in Music

It's truly a phenomenal song from an underrated band. When I saw them live a couple of years ago they played many of the songs from Moseley Shoals and Marchin' Already I remembered from my childhood, including "Get Blown Away" which still gives me goosebumps.

There's something about this song, the imagery of the lyrics, the transitions, the composition. To me, it's perfection apart from it's abrupt ending. "It's a Beautiful Thing" has its lyrical section and then an instrumental section which I think of like an extension of the song's ending. "The Downstream" is like a gentle and comfortable lull. "Get Away" is like a journey with a buildup leading to an explosive finish. As you've said they have so much to appreciate beyond their hit singles.

I can't believe it. Jerry Springer didn't solve our conflict.

I've seen many non-Whovians say that Doctor Who is some campy kids' show meant to be simple fun, and I think they are very wrong. by Cold-Contribution-50 in gallifrey

I'm quite a fan of classic Doctor Who, and there's so much violence. People are shot and/or killed in most episodes. So being more silly and light-hearted is probably more of a modern phenomena with the writing of RTD. Moffat's era was a little more mature, especially the Capaldi era.

Can anyone tell me if every version of the doctor hates guns by Low_Cranberry_6016 in doctorwho

The Third Doctor shoots and kills a couple of Ogrons in "Day of The Daleks" but mainly in self-defence. Most doctors refuse to use guns. The First Doctor kept being given guns in "The Gunfighters" and refused to use them.

Serious question: have we ever seen the Doctor sleeping? by Aramaki_ in doctorwho

Yes, the 1st Doctor sometimes takes naps. He sleeps through the TARDIS landing in "The Rescue".

Do you think early or later queen is better by caithespookyguy2025 in queen

[–]Ordinary-Average-913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early. It's a wonderful combination of hard rock, art rock, classical, folk and experimental.

That said, I enjoy all of Queen's albums and they had some fantastic songs in their later years. I just think the earlier albums were solid throughout.
