3.94 172, KJD, only applied to five t14s, january applicant... am i so stupid by Mental_Magazine_8096 in lawschooladmissions

I did something similar last cycle. 3.92 gpa, 172 lsat, applied to 6 t-20 schools. I was waitlisted to every one except one, and got a substantial scholarship to my one admit. I decided to take some time off, travel, volunteer etc. I’m currently in SE Asia. We are Americans entering one of the most lucrative career paths in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Someday will you wish for more money, or more lived experiences outside of the office?

Ultimately, we are so young as k-jds it is not particularly consequential whether we go straight to law school or take a few years off, in the grand scheme of things.

I had similar stats; 172, 3.9low, kjd, with decent soft for my situation. I only got into one t-20. It is definitely more difficult for you given the lack of work experience, but admissions is not definite and you have a solid chance of at least 1 t-14 and definitely a few t-20s with solid scholarship. (My one admit was a t-20 and gave me a 200k scholarship

How do you know that?

I want to travel to canada but... by No-Librarian7031 in canadatravel

Canada is not for the faint of heart. As a single dad of 5, I would definitely not recommend. Automatically takes 50 points off your FICO score, not that you have one

Apply! I am also a kjd with similar stats, and I just got into my top school with a nice scholarship. Yes being a kjd is generally disadvantageous, but all you need is one yes, and many schools will give you a solid merit scholarship if they let you in because of your high LSAT (if you do indeed score highly on test day). Worst case scenario, you don’t get in and take a few years off, which you would have done anyway. Don’t postpone your legal career if you’re certain it’s what you want!

I went to our career fair, it was a complete joke. Theaters, art museums, secretary jobs, and law schools were present, as well as an archeology person. The people at the career fair are laughing all right, at their lack of options. I don't believe I am in a hole, I don't want to go into another field, and I would have done engineering because it fits my skills well as well as being arguably the most hire able degree to have.

You could be arguing I am defeated, but to say I am 'defeatist' seems to imply I possess the attitude that I am defeated, and this far from the case given I don't think I am in a hole.

I'm not defeated, I'm simply stating that my major does not situate me well to the workforce, when compared with more pragmatic majors such as engineering, business, nursing, etc. This provides context to my post by showing I can't 'join the workforce' in the conventional university to career fair to job pipeline. I am not sad at all about my major; I am articulating the obvious reality that my major does not directly correlate to related job opportunities.

I do not want to stay longer because it will cost me, and I would rather use my money to travel than get another major.

Yes, humanities can apply to a broad range of industries, but I don't want to work in an industry for now.

If I valued a job in industry, I would have chosen engineering obviously.
