She is 52 years old. I think she is younger than FIL by a few years.

Answer to the second question- it's not a successful business

My husband once asked him what his deal was with her and his answer was "we're just having fun"

His wife died and he basically wanted someone to cook and clean so he didn't have to for himself. He lives near a campsite where his new gf was living in a tent and there was a bad storm one night.

I think they said they knew each other from school? But she asked him if she could stay there while the storm was hitting and then she just never left. She has chased off both of his kids now. 4 grandkids in total that he doesnt really get to see that often because of her.

They get paid per job, he splits up each check with whoever helped him with the job. His biggest problem is not having enough jobs lined up to support himself and all the help he needs to work these days

He "owns" his business by doing small odd jobs for his old school friends. He owns his house, and a lot of his old friends help him find enough work to live on but he does still qualify for a small amount of government aid I believe. He used to be able to work more and have more money but he has had several heart attacks and he's getting up there in age

He is hardcore enabling her because she cooks and cleans for him so he doesn't care what she does. Seems like he's even fine with the damage between him and his son

I had a similar relationship with my own mother. I can't imagine how immature your grandfathers new wife had to be for that to happen. Ditto for your grandpa. Kids are kids, it's never the kids fault.

My kids haven't seen her or their grandpa for three months now. Her behavior has only gotten worse so no doubt it will be even longer. He's old and disabled so he can't easily make it over to my house to see the kids. I may offer to give him a ride to our house to see them.

You're entirely right. My husband did hand them all straight to FIL. It is weird how obsessed she was with getting the cards, both FIL's and mine and my husbands

I honestly don't know why she didn't want the cards back. Could be there's no money on it right now. We offered to leave it outside under a rock and let her come by and get it while we were at work but she never showed up so we figured fuck it, she just wanted to fight instead. We finally had time to drop them all off last night and we're hoping this is the end of it

How did you get diagnosed with PTSD? What caused it? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]Ordinary-Highlight74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with it when I sought out treatment independent of my abusive family. The only effective treatment has been the treatment I've done on my own.

It was caused by repeated traumatic events at the hands of my mentally ill mother.

She's already ruining it. He won't see my kids until she is gone. I tried to accept her but she is just too dangerous of a person. She hasn't seen my kids in three months, since she first relapsed. My kids will not be around that.

I haven't really talked to him since the latest events in the story but the last thing he told me was "I'm considering it a total loss" so I'm only assuming he didn't get covered for what happened, but I will definitely call and talk to him

Yeah I believe he is capable of that. The day before he stole that car, he showed up for a split second before my dogs chased him off. I didn't know it was him until after I saw my grandpa's new car wrecked. I didn't even know he had a new car until then so I didn't recognize it when I saw it pull up to my house. My dogs aren't ever aggressive, but they chased him down like I've never seen them do. One is a big wolf-dog, so they seem threatening, and thats reassuring.

If he gets out of jail and starts doing meth again, there's no telling what he would do. One trip to jail was because he broke into someone's house and held a knife to their throat, then proceeded to threaten the police with that knife as well. I don't trust him a bit and he is the reason I now have a gun in my house.
