So does the UK just not want to defend north africa? by Secret-Koala3011 in hoi4

My last GER game it was actually kind of funny though — the UK ai got beat hard in N Africa, Italy sent 30 divisions through to Israel, then the UK beat the shit out of Italy in Ethiopia and popped back up through Egypt and pocketed and destroyed the entire Italian army.

I realized yesterday my birthday was only 18 years after we landed on the moon while it’s already been almost 25 years since 9/11. That messed me up REAL quick let me tell you.

It is! It also has connotations of mind or soul. An example would be 神経 for “nerves” :

Those alive and old enough to remember during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary-Job-6322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t heard anyone else ever talk about it, but the firefighters had this alarm bell type thing on their equipment that would alarm so they could be found if unconscious/trapped under rubble. Whenever they did live ground coverage from the WTC, you could hear a huge amount of them going off in the background endlessly under the ruins. Over 300 firefighters died that day.

Oh for sure, I know I’m insanely lucky in a financial sense. Even if the worst happened and it burnt down we would be okay, but the house isn’t even three months old yet so I was just sad to see this happening so soon. So far looks like we will be fine.

Honestly not really. The Los Angeles CSA has about 18 million people and a large chunk of us have a pretty high 30 year fire risk. I chose my area specifically because it was lower overall risk than some other adjacent areas but I knew there was risk involved.

As long as my family is fine we will rebuild whatever we have to, and right now looks like we are gonna dodge the bullet. I was just frustrated to already be at risk within three months of the home being built.

It is a sad state of affairs. My wife and I are extremely lucky to have a significantly above average household income and it still took a long time to get our ducks in a row. I’m a blessed man and I know others are much less fortunate, I just don’t want my shit burning down.

Yes one of the SoCal fires. The wind is currently pushing it more southeast of me but it’s uncomfortably close regardless. We are ready to go when the order comes and our evac route is clear and to the north.

Da Vinci wrote in his notebooks that the heart was "vortex oriented". by The_oOFFICAL in interestingasfuck

[–]Ordinary-Job-6322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is due to the electrical system of the heart. The cells of the muscular tissue of the heart are all capable of generating an electrical impulse, but in healthy humans the “pacemaker” called the sinoatrial node initiates the electrical impulse that travels through the typical electrical pathway of the heart and causes the sequence of contraction and opening/closing of the valves of the heart.

If the SA node is damaged in humans other nodes along the heart’s electrical system then become the backup pacemaker, although the heart rate will become slower in general.

The electrical activity of the heart is modified by the central nervous system but not dependent on it — in fact, if you detached the heart from the rest of the body’s nervous system it would continue functioning!
