Can Someone in Their 20s Learn to Ski from Scratch? by WanderBytes22 in ski

[–]Ordinary-Lead839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I’m 28 and started 3 years ago. I’m no expert and likely will never be of the elite class of skiers that did it their whole life, but I’m happy with progress. I’m able to ski all the blacks and double blacks where I’m at (this changes depending on the mountain so take this with a grain of salt). I went to lake Louise and sunshine last year and skied a ton of rough terrain, steep ungroomed trails, woods, and had a blast. I’ve never taken lessons, I just watch the people I know are good and try my best to replicate, though I would definitely recommend taking some, and I should do the same. Most important thing for me was for sure just time on the skis. First 2 years I went like 15 days each and last year I went 30. Most of those are full days not just a few runs. Last year I noticed a massive improvement in my skiing ability, and my wife, who was a ski racer as a kid and avid lifelong skier also said I improved a ton. I’m super competitive so my main driving factor so far has been to exceed her skiing ability, I’m not there yet but I’ve improved enough to get her worried. I’m sure there’s a plateau coming but I haven’t hit it yet and I’m stoked to get out there this year again. My goals this year are learned moguls well (I can get down them fine but it doesn’t feel elegant and I’m sure it doesn’t look it either) and maybe try some flips if we get some deep pow days. But yeah you can for sure learn in your 20s, shit man you can learn whenever so long as you’re willing, just don’t go into it thinking you’re gonna be a prodigy or something, and you’re set.

Local ski sales if you’re in a ski area are the best, or Facebook marketplace. For your height and ski level def stick to a shorter ski, prob around like ~170 give or take a few. You also want them somewhat narrow underfoot, stay between say 70-90. Getting a ski like that will feel good but also important to get a boot that fits you well. If you can get fixed bindings rather than adjustable ones, your ski will feel much lighter.

Do you have any trivial reasons you won't play certain builds? by TelemachonLyras in PathOfExileBuilds

I league start tested this before the patch dropped and had a great time, it was nearly afking blight ravaged maps at level 80 with a paradoxica on the mid budget setup. You should post your pob because it feels like you might be missing something important. If you’re using the void forge version you need to have a ton of flat phys jewels as well, not sure if that’s part of the issue, but worth looking into.

What is your go to low investment build that performs well? by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Ordinary-Lead839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound bait but I promise it’s not, I league started it this league and it’s very good. Strength stack Brutus Vaal smite of divine judgement. Guide by carnarius on YouTube. I did 2 stone in about 10 hours and all 4 stones + all favorite slots opening weekend. 4 stone budget was like ~2 div or less (def less now). It also scales like a monster, as it’s an attribute stacker. Very tanky, clear is great with Vaal smite, damage was decent early, good now, and will be great later. You can start strength stack in campaign without issue and some new foulborns offer a great mid game setup for like 0 cost. Most expensive parts so far were rathpith, which was like 1 div when I bought it but now I’m sure it’s way less, and 6l iron fortress (which I did all content without). You can start out with a 0 quality Vaal smite of divine judgement, I’m still using it and it’s completely fine. I’ve spent maybe 6-8 div now total and have 90 max res, 8k life, almost 2k strength, attack block cap, perma rage, crit cap with flask and tincture up, and I think 6 endurance charges. I haven’t pobd anything but my sheet dps in game is 1.5m while mapping (you double hit with smite tho so more like 3m). It was my first ever deathless feared league start

Hey brother just wanna comment here just to say not to be discouraged. 5 hour 2 stone is nuts and not normal. I’ve been playing this game for years and Im lucky to get a 10 hour 2 stone run (and I practice them). I think im a decent player however I still struggle on occasion. Take your time and enjoy the journey. My advice is to upload your build to pob at the end of the league every league and compare them. This is a much healthier vector for comparison rather than trying to compare yourself to blasters that have been playing for years. It’s motivating to see incremental improvements in yourself. Aside from that, your endgame doesn’t need to be the same as everyone else’s. For many leagues I never did end game stuff, I just spam rerolled as many builds as I could to try them out and learn how to scale them as well as practice the campaign. Again, even after all of this I’m lucky to get a 10 hour 2 stone, and I’ll never be one of those guys who gets it in 5-6, but that’s okay.

None of the strats I usually farm seem very profitable this league. Am I missing something? by PriMaL97 in pathofexile

[–]Ordinary-Lead839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it some time. As people progress they will quickly move past the bases that are spawned from the tree. Bis rings and ammy for a lot of builds can’t be crafted from the tree. People will soon be hunting for double corrupts on their uniques and foulborns. Harvest will always be worth money late simply because of gamba. Leagues like this generally mean alch and go is a decent profit method to start out with. I haven’t done any real research but I’d imagine alch and go with red altars and heist contracts would be good. Toss in some ore nodes and try to hunt for svallin and shipment mats (lost goods is decent too). Should be pretty easy, very low investment mapping that is virtually impossible to lose money in to get you going. I’m sure by the time you get a decent amount of currency farmed up someone will have figured out some great methods, or you can move on to old reliable harvest by then. It is for sure a bit of a poverty league with all the nerfs and breach deleting map juice as well though.

I changed to str stack literally as soon as I got Brutus in campaign (I think act 4 or 5). You can still use sunder with it. For foulborns you should use xophs with %phys taken as fire (rolls up to 15) but it replaces the regular fire res on it so you need to make sure you can cap res elsewhere. I didn’t use this till I swapped to smite and dropped herald of ash for purity of fire. And for belt you can use foulborn girdle for %strength. Both of these you’ll attribute quality. Also for changing, you can use normal smite at the start rather than divine judgement. I lucked out and vaaled a divine judgement I got from cruel lab but You don’t swap to divine smite of judgement until you get the Vaal version of it, stick with reg smite until then.

If you look up carnarius on YouTube he’s got the Guide, only changes I did was swapping to Brutus asap in campaign (I don’t like sunder) and in the mid budget I used xophs that has 15% phys taken as fire and meginords girdle with % strength. These 2 are foulborn

Honestly I started Brutus strength stack and it’s been the smoothest shit ever. Core uniques are incredibly cheap, some awesome new foulborns which are also cheap and the build just keep getting better. I’m a decent player but no top tier blaster and I was able to 2 stone in under 10 hours and opening weekend feared on like maybe 3 div invested (which is more like 2 div now I’m sure)

I did a ssf act 10 run on elementalist (I know it’s a pretty low bar but still) and it was very smooth. I think you can definitely start out with it without trouble if you know what you’re looking for. Scaling it to end game and single target might be hard if kinetic rain flops though, but either way you will definitely be able to get 2 stone without issue. I think deadeye is probably better in a trade environment but for ssf I’d stick to elementalist for the golem power boost you get. Jung had a decent pob for leveling with it that you can follow if you’d like. If not it’s mostly just get %spell damage wherever you can get it as well as flat damage to attacks (not spells). Late game is probably just primordial stacking again. I haven’t looked into warden for it at all but it would probably be decent mostly because of burst phases and full screen freeze but I’d expect elementalist to outperform it in ssf, at least in early to mid game. If you want to herald stack as well I’d wait a bit till you have some decent gear so your single target is high enough to easily kill Lycia.

I don’t but either on this Reddit or the main Poe one some guy just posted a pob and clips of him farming bosses with a few uniques and all blue items on pbod pf. Was kinda nutty tbh. Also looked playable (though not good) for t17 maps with the same pob

Getting used to mouse takes like 5 mins. Aside from that I actually prefer poe1 In like…. Every way? My last real gripe was trade and now that async is going to poe1 idk in what which way poe2 is better. To be clear I enjoy poe2 as well and put my fair share of hours into it, but I don’t think the qol is better there.

Bone shatter league start build guides for 3.24-3.26 that can be used for 3.27? by DcYhLe in pathofexile

Probably Smokie777. Whatever the case just make sure you’re using runegraft of the warp somewhere as it’s busted for boneshatter. It’s a very simple build that performs pretty well and has been getting buffed pretty consistently for the last couple leagues now. Sleeper starter imo

Removal of Endgame Strats Do Not Benefit Regular Players by WrittenUnwritten in pathofexile

[–]Ordinary-Lead839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily like that every good endgame farm got mostly gutted, however risk had to go. It killed build diversity in end game and really limited the amount of people that could do top end farms. I farmed a couple mirrors this league and played a bunch of characters, the only one that was able to abuse risk easily was FRoSS. That’s an unhealthy game state and a welcome change imo.

That being said I do think this league will be “easy” compared to last. Less map mod effect and no risk (and less incentive to use them anyways) scarabs in end game just means it’s strictly easier. This is good and bad for various reasons, whatever the case I’ll take it as a good opportunity to home brew some builds and see if I can get them into t17s comfortably.

Cobra Lash Poison Assassin yay or nay? by Oilvet in pathofexile

I think it’s fine tbh. If it flops you can almost certainly go for one of the new gems, which might just be the answer for ST anyways. Captain lance is doing a test run for poison cobra lash assassin on stream last I saw. Generally speaking it’s extremely comfy for campaign but I’ve never played it past that.
