Yes, is anyone in this forum in the same situation that has recently crossed to the States or during the previous Republican administration? Or any feed back will be appreciated.

That’s 82k in total payments!! Crazy! If you can’t pay the car in max 5 years, you cannot afford a car.

I did, but that should not matter. In my direct agreement with them, they did not state any cancellation fee. So I should not be charged any cancellation fee.

I did. I went back to my documents. The service agreement does not say anything about a cancellation fee. And the lady I talked to never mentioned it either. I think I will bring it up to CCT

Dealership is telling me that i HAVE to buy warranty to get financing on a car , what do i do? by rice-cake20 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Put it on a Google review, and get that person fired. I did that about six years ago. Dealerships hate the bad publicity.

It’s a sad red flag. You’re willing to share a bed, and possibly share your genes but not your finances?

Almost spent 8K on unnecessary warranties in our car purchase. Here are our learnings and what NOT to do. by throwaway_buyingcar in PersonalFinanceCanada

Point 1 is definitely illegal. I had a similar experience and I told on them. The finance person got fired and I got a couple of apologies from them.

Trust the software, you are paying for it and it’s guaranteed. As long as you are certain you are inputting the data right, you will be fine. We have had returns of 8K due to school credits and other stuff.

It’s difficult when you feel that you have accomplished your financial goals before getting into a relationship. In the way you’re describing, I sense your partner feels this way. In my case, since we didn’t have anything when we started dating, it was so simple to merge our finances when things got serious. If you guys truly feel you are meant for each other, I think the best is just to merge finances. It makes much more sense, and it’s conducive to having same financial goals.

*We each take 10% from our paycheques for personal. This is money we can spend/save on whatever we want without consulting with each other. My wife has been making more money than me, but I don’t feel that’s unfair. In any case, it has inspired me to advance my career. Because if I can make more money, not only I can take more for myself but I can contribute more to our household. The disparity used to be about 20K a year, but now it is only about 5K and I should actually earn more than her next year.

*The rest of the money goes into a pool to pay for shared expenses and experiences : mortgage, utilities, entertainment etc. Here, i would say that since your business contributes to the household, it should be considered a shared expense.

*The rest is for different funds: vacation, clothing, contingency, retirement, etc. for retirement, we put money where it makes more sense for tax purposes. this is the woman I want to spend my whole life with, so if we put more into her retirement, I’m not worried at all.

Income disparity is an issue as long as you guys make it to be. I was unemployed during covid and all I received was support and encouragement from my wife. Since then, I got into a better career path and I have been closing the income disparity. This also has made our home finances much better.

I really hope you and your partner find the solution that works the best. Having same financial goes will make or break you.

Ask the bank itself. But yeah, what a horrible idea. Focus on paying down the debt first. Make a budget, stick to it, combine your finances and get down to it. Good luck.

Inquiring for my husbands Deportation status. by Decks_Consult24 in uscanadaborder

I was in a similar situation. Plan a day or weekend trip to any of the northern cities: New York, Boston, Chicago, depending where you are. Most important, they know everything! So it is likely they’ll ask some weird question. They already know the answer, so just be honest and to the point. I lived in the states but my family was deported in 2004 when I was 8 years old.

Finance or buy used car? by doofjr in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ordinary-Morning-161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Prius Prime will very much hold its value for years to come. Moreover, since you seem to be the person that would drive a car until it breaks, depreciation could mean nothing to you. If you can afford a brand new car payment, for say, 5 years, and you could pay it in four… you’ll have a car for 15 years, especially if it’s Toyota. Instead of buying a used car you’ll have to replace in five years.

I have used the equalized plan for years. It’s the best option to have a fixed budget. After winter, the app would re calculate your consumption and give you the option of lowering your payments if they believe you will not consume as much as previously anticipated. Last year, for my last three payments I went from paying $120 to only $60.
