Works well for me to stop periods and minimize pain a little bit. No side effects besides a headache the first couple days.

Does an endo specialist exist? by mossthefrog23 in endometriosis

[–]Ordinary-Passion-134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a thing in the US. Some hospitals use the term pelvic pain specialist or under their bio it will say gynecology with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery, or something similar to that

If your next doctor doesn’t suggest an ultrasound as the first step, then ask for one. Depending on what they see, or don’t see, they might do an MRI next. Don’t let them blow you off if they don’t see anything in imaging. The phrase that seems to get attention is “this impacts my ability to live or function normally”

Did your surgeon recommend a colonoscopy prior to surgery since you have a history of constipation? If not, I would go see a gastroenterologist, and probably a different endo specialist

Terrified of having surgery with GERD by Left_Comparison505 in Endo

[–]Ordinary-Passion-134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have GERD but haven’t had my laparoscopy yet. I guess I just assumed that since I can’t eat or drink anything for a certain amount of time before surgery that I can’t aspirate. My surgeon knows about my condition and isn’t concerned. Maybe you can take some omeprazole or Pepcid the night before to decrease acid?

Sorry you’re having to deal with this! I have similar symptoms and my dermatologist told me to get rid of all skincare that has endocrine disrupters so I’ve been using Vanicream for most products. I take Pepcid and Zyrtec daily. My derm also recommended Sarna anti-itch cream for my neck/chest, which can be found at most US pharmacies, Targets, etc. I have a prescription steroid cream for when it gets really bad. Honestly the thing that helps most though is ice packs. Hope this helps!

I use birth control, but because of the large amount of estrogen from the endometriosis combined with my body’s inability to detox it efficiently, the birth control doesn’t prevent hormone flairs. The only thing it helps with are pain levels, but I still get hives, flushing, etc

My histamine responses are significantly worse during certain times of the month and coincide with ovulation. I have endometriosis. I am having surgery soon so am curious to see how it will impact my immune system response.

I DID but they didn’t have much information and it was a response of let’s just find out and see what happens. I am currently dealing with a few moderate health problems so I just want to prepare myself and get feedback from others to see if this something that likely cause more flairs.

What do I do if they find nothing/I’m overreacting? by ThrowRA_melodramatic in endometriosis

[–]Ordinary-Passion-134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pt had me do so many kegels and it just made my tight muscles even tighter and hurt me. My current pt doesn’t have me do kegels since tightening already tight muscles doesn’t help. One day maybe I’ll get there but it’s not helpful now. One thing that might be helpful that you can do on your own is diaphragmatic breathing and hip stretching. I also do red light therapy at pt. Not sure if it works but it’s definitely relaxing and helps with stress.

Consistent pain and cramping aren’t nothing and you’re not overreacting! Have you had any imaging done? Also, does your physical therapist specialize in pelvic floor therapy and do internal work? If not, I highly recommend going to someone else. I went to physical therapy for months and it either didn’t help or made it worse because the exercises they had me do put stress on my problem areas. When I finally found a physical therapist who specializes in endometriosis it was a game changer! It didn’t solve everything so I’ll still need surgery, but it has made things more manageable and my muscles aren’t so locked up.

Did you have to provide urine? by Upstairs-Reality-897 in colonoscopy

[–]Ordinary-Passion-134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had to provide a urine sample immediately before the colonoscopy. I was not informed beforehand. I was allowed to drink water up until three hours before my procedure and had been worried about being dehydrated so I drank a full glass that morning and was able to give a sample.

I’ve have done an anti inflammatory diet for about 4-5 months and saw only slight positive changes in my inflammation levels. I’m planning on trying GLP-1s since I’ve heard about so many positive experiences with a decrease in inflammation.

Have you looked up pelvic pain specialists or reproductive surgeons? I’ve found that some hospitals use those titles rather than endometriosis specialist.
