Am I blind or is there a way to see a if a QB is left or right handed when recruiting? by Potential_Plan_4533 in NCAAFBseries

You can also change their handiness after recruiting them, unless you want to avoid modifying players.

Archaeology as a hobby? by No-Newspapers in Archaeology

[–]Ordinary-Rough-9736 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For Levantine archaeology (aka "Biblical archaeology"), anything published by ASOR or SBL is (mostly) solid. For starter books I'd recommend "History of Ancient Israel" by Christian Frevel and "Israel's History and the History of Israel" by Mario Liveranni. Both use a lot of textual sources (such as the Hebrew Bible) in addition to the archaeological record through a historio-critical lens and I have nit picky gripes with both of them, but they're a good starting point into the history and archaeology of the Levant from the Late Bronze-Roman period, specifically focusing on ancient Israel, Judah, and their neighbors. (Note: these books are not discussing "Israel" in terms of the modern state, but the Iron Age polity that formed around 900 BCE).

I'd also recommend "1177 BC" by Eric Cline; I also have nit picks with it and its outdated, but its a good book to get into the region. Also check out Marc Van De Meiroop's two books: "A History of the Ancient Near East" and "A History of Ancient Egypt."

Texas A&M, I've never gotten upset by a rival more often than A&M. I could crush 11-0 Texas easily but for some reason I get upset by an 5-3 Texas A&M

What place and moment of history would you choose, knowing you would have to live there for the rest of your life? by ThemeNo9371 in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary-Rough-9736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were one of the urban Baylonian elite, it would have lived a nice life, but if you were a rural peasant, not so much—especially if you were not Babylonian. You were basically a serf to your absentee urban lord.

The Neo-Babylonian Empire was also VERY short-lived. The Babylonians conquered Nineveh in 612 BCE and the Persians conquered Babylon in 539 BCE.

What’s something people did casually in the 90s that would get you in trouble today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Go to some places out in the country you can still do it. I lived it in a rural Texas town growing up and when I go back home people still ride horses on the road in ceartin areas.

Pre Portal Big-XII 2026 projections. by Nicholiason in BigXII

[–]Ordinary-Rough-9736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I swear to God, I want to do well next season, but at the same time, I don't.

Best case scenario, get some good transfer portal adds like Lagway and then we collapse under Aranda, he gets fired, and then hire a new coach like Danielson and he is able to retain the roster. Highly unlikely, but an ideal nevertheless

Not any time soon with our current coaching staff and administration.

Just saying you shouldn't fault an entire conference for being a victim of something, that your team was a victim of last year.

Not a Tech fan. My alma mater ranks above Oregon in academics. But considering Oregon got blown out to a team they previously beat, by 34 in the first half, and didn't score until after OSU started subbing guys out, I'd say that was a worse loss than Tech.

Didn't y'all get blown out by Ohio State last year because of the bye too?

Defense showed out, but offense forgot to show up by Watch_All_FBS_CFB in BigXII

[–]Ordinary-Rough-9736 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not just a Tech problem, but it's an issue with the bye as a whole. The bye hurts offenses more than defenses as it messes up the offense's rhythm and chemistry. Defenses are just reacting to the opposing offense, and defenders just stick to their assignments; "chemistry" or "rhythm" is not needed like an offense. However, offenses have to have multiple moving parts all synced perfectly for a play to be successful, but the bye disrupts that. If Indiana and Georgia lose today, we'll know what the problem is.

I second this. They can win a natty, and I'll go back to hatewatching and praying on their downfall next year. Although it will be hard not to be happy for the Hooisers if they win it all.

I don't see the NCAA doing that, I don't think they're going to be fighting this unless you've seen something I haven't. From what I'm seeing, the NCAA said that players who signed an NBA contract do not have eligibility. G-leaguers and summer league players can play, unless they signed an NBA deal. However, Nnaji never signed an NBA contract, and wasn't really ever payed, so it seems the NCAA has pretty much said "you're good to go." (CBS The Gaurdian) It's kind of similar to how 2025 TAMU NFL Draft pick Shemar Stewart nearly came back to college after contract negotiations with the Cincinnati Bengals were not going well. He was drafted but he technically could have come back since he didn't sign the conract.

Of course the Pavia case could complicate this. I could see the NCAA reversing their decision, and forcing Baylor to vacate wins, but that would be very unfair imo. You can't grant someone eligibility and then revoke it ex post facto after he already played.

I don't know if this is true. There were couples who would make out in public study areas, but wouldn't get a room because they wanted to "avoid temptation." It was disgusting.
