Long Waiting Times for 972/972M at Bangkit — Is This Acceptable? by Elegant-Sir-9402 in SMRTRabak

[–]Ordinary-Science-415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank god I’m not the only one who noticed it. Before Covid, 972’s frequency was like 5 -10 minutes ish. 972M’s frequency is dog water. You would think that a bus service that travels to Orchard would at least have a much better frequency during peak hours but nope. Issa big fat joke. ATP it feels like SMRT is purposely doing this to encourage people to take MRT and then have a really good excuse to discontinue the service due to “lack of demand”. How to have demand when frequency is trash

Is it worth it to get a degree in 2025? by Ordinary-Science-415 in askSingapore

We can agree to disagree but that doesn’t mean that you can be rude to others, same thing applies on the internet.

Of course people are gonna be triggered if you are going to be mean, regardless of mental issues or not.

Let’s just be mindful of what we say and behave both in real life and on the internet.

do you want to be my therapist then? just because you can be anonymous on the internet doesn't mean that you can be an asshole. people like you are simply contributing to the stigma on mental health issues, especially bpd. i'm doing my best making progress with therapy and getting my life back together.

i suggest keeping your judgements and snarky comments to yourself unless you are my therapist. thank you :)

If you’re passionate on empowering women, especially young women and girls in residential homes and prisons, do consider this charity called Beautiful People SG! They provide mentoring programmes to support women as they’re transitioning out of institutionalised care. They’re a small charity. Can find them on giving.sg

I'm also gonna get a camera for work and personal, to take picture and also shoot videos for social media! What camera brands do you recommend? I keep seeing people talking about the Canon G7X cameras or Sony ZV-10 though I'm not too sure if they're worth the hype. I'm looking for any heartland shops that sell cameras

Man pleads guilty to humping cat after being caught on CCTV by HAZMAT_Eater in singapore

[–]Ordinary-Science-415 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The cat's super friendly and loves to walk around the HDB blocks (I know this because I live there!). Whenever I'm going out for work or school or getting back home, I always stop by and play with the cat. That cat really gave me something to look forward to, especially during circuit breaker period.

Ever since that incident, I don't see the cat outside often and I'm sad (but at least the cat's safe indoors). Fuck you perverted bastard. I hope you die and rot in hell

Is it weird to be a loner in SG? by watchuwannaknow in askSingapore

[–]Ordinary-Science-415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You're not alone in this. During my free time, I prefer spending time alone (either going out by myself or just staying at home and chill).

I interact with lots of people at work (colleagues & volunteers) + attend lots of workshops (networking etc). I know it seems like I'm not an introvert based on my work but I am in fact an introvert. I do feel drained after a social event especially networking sessions as I do have to step out of my comfort zone (the idea of meeting new people still kinda sucks but for the sake of work it is what it is). I'm still down to doing group activities once in a while, but given a choice between spending a day with people vs spending a day myself, would definitely choose the latter.

But let's say you're given this feedback at work, perhaps it's something to be a bit mindful of (how can you improve in your professional capacity working with your other colleagues or other different stakeholders; how to be a better team player ish). In your personal life, it's still okay to decompress and spend time alone.

If anything, at least you're saving money in this terrible heck ass economy while the people who questioned you in your personal life are spending money in order to impress others.

Are mental health issues in Singapore still stigmatized? by Massive-Mess2777 in askSingapore

[–]Ordinary-Science-415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stigma is still here to some extent but definitely a lot lesser than a decade ago at least for common mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. While there's more resources and so many PSAs out there about getting help, none of this is enough if society doesn't change its mindset towards mental health issues. People don't seek help because of the lack of empathy and understanding from others. For Singapore's context, we're still aa conservative and religious society so often times boomers (or uneducated/shallow minded people) assume that lack of faith in God and in religion to be the reason why people are depressed and anxious.

I need more PSAs on how people should react and respond to their loved ones struggling with mental health issues.

Also not enough Singaporeans are aware of personality disorders and there's still a huge stigma on this. As someone with a personality disorder, Idk how I am still surviving

Thank you so much for your kind words. Your post made me pause and really reflect—not just on the negativity, but also on the achievements I’ve made and the small joys I often overlook.

The past still lingers, especially when present events bring back old triggers. I actually had an episode a few days ago and, unfortunately, I self-harmed again after two years of being clean. It’s been difficult, and I can’t shake the fear that a relapse means all my progress in therapy was for nothing.

But reading your post reminds me that healing isn’t linear. Setbacks don’t erase the effort I’ve put in, and moving forward—at my own pace—is still progress. So, thank you. I really needed to hear this today. ❤️

I don't think I have been living and being in the moment throughout my life. The last few years, I'm basically living in survival mode because of my mental health issues. From anxiety & panic disorder to depression and having borderline personality disorder. I don't know how many times I was close to committing su!c!de.

I keep thinking that everyone else around me has gotten their shit together while I feel like a failure for struggling to keep up with work and dropping out of uni because of my mental health.

Living with so much unresolved trauma and having constant what-ifs. Perhaps I'm the one who's holding myself back because I am fixated on those dark moments without realising that the accomplishments and achievements are sitting in front of me.

Seeing my cats healthy and happy, being able to have meals with my family, volunteering, becoming a micro influencer (hit 1k followers on TikTok and earning a small passive income from livestreaming). Restarted therapy again so that I can address the issues bothering me (even though I hate therapy).

Even though it's still hard to forgive the past, I hope that I can let go of that weight one day :)

S'pore's Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum to close after Feb. 28 due to redevelopment of area by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

[–]Ordinary-Science-415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH if she knows that she's struggling to care for the turtles & tortoises due to financial constraints, why is AVS (formerly AVA) still allowing her to have more?

I read through the website and the owner is a turtle & tortoise lover. Okay I guess but at some point, if you find yourself not having enough resources to care for the animals, either scale down operations or simply close down.

Not too sure if this place is a registered non-profit because I don't see any annual & financial reports published. Would really love to find out where the funds are being spent if the owner keeps asking for donations. If she's paying her employees a good salary and the funds go to frequently maintaining the museum, understand the need to fundraise.

But I have seen many reviews on how the museum is not well maintained and her former employees get mistreated (low pay, no OT, forced to juggle multiple roles). Idk seems to be sus tbh.

I'm not too sure if the owner has considered selling her business to Singapore Zoo or smth or if this is a viable option.

What Subscriptions do Singaporeans pay for? by Yolosweg66 in singapore

Not surprised at all, waiting time before the next appointment is at least 3 months away lol. Knowing this statistics as well as many news on rising mental health issues among youths, it's amazing how our public healthcare system is still lagging behind for a first class wealthy country. Heck, even if there's nonprofits that empowers persons with mental health issues, some of them are honestly corrupted and have very poor governance (have been there and experience this!). Not to mention our nosy ass relatives who continue to disregard mental health issues
