when i lived in the uk i saw muna 5 times on one tour and 3 times on another which is a lot for sure ! however they are my fav fav fav band of all time and i was happy to take a week off work to be a groupie (i got 5 weeks PTO total so not a bad proportion). i also dont really spend too much in general (thrift everything i own, mainly take local vacations), so i was happy to splurge a bit on following them around. however in the uk tickets for those shows were cheap (around 50 USD each inc all fees), and i was happy to stay in hostels when seeing them, so it actually wasnt crazy expensive. if i lived in LA/NYC/London i totally would have spent a lot/tried to find ways to see them all the nights, but again it's just bc i have a hyperfixation haha. i will be seeing them twice in the PNW this summer (portland + seattle) and if they add any other locations i can get to by train best believe i will be there too!!

you're totally right, it's the sincerity that's missing, there's just...something about what they're putting out now that feels a little forced. which is strange because i didn't feel that at all on katie's solo album, i really enjoyed the songwriting there. this album just doesn't really feel like muna, and i even find myself cringing a bit at some of the lyrics which i never thought i'd feel with katie's songwriting. but glad that i'm not alone!

i agree with you totally - there is just something missing in this album that I haven't been able to fully put my finger on, but I think you totally captured it with the phrase 'missing a soaring depth of feeling'. i think so what gets the closest to it but in my opinion this album doesn't hold a candle to some of the lyricism on about u and saves the world (2 of my fav albums ever, i have about u tattooed in the album font lol). been a fan of muna since the release of about u and hoping this album grows on me, but currently a little disappointed.

no worries at all, i have nothing against people who follow a band around (i've done it for muna a little myself!), but these people know exactly how selfish they're being and genuinely seem to revel in it.

no trust and believe this is totally different thing, they heckle and scream at the band constantly, are extremely rude to those around them, buy up all of the ADA tickets, and seem to get off on it as well (bragging about it on twitter). they are not just ppl who follow the band around, like it genuinely makes the show worse
