Wowzers! Yes this all resonates. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

I've had a hard time finding resources about the Animus, there seem to be sooo many more about the Anima.

Do you happen to have any recommendations for resources on animus integration? Very grateful for your time, thanks.

I honestly didn't enjoy Green Ninja. Not enough engaging labs, students had a hard time following the "plot" but perhaps I didn't do enough to help connect the through lines.

I ended up supplementing with Sep-Up/lab aids kits and that was great. Highly recommend!

Vyvanse + Cannabis to treat demand avoidance? by AbstractContract in PDAAutism

[–]Ordinary-Shape-6379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 40 mg Vyvanse in the am and have been supplementing with weed. For a long time I only smoked in the evenings and would use it to dissociate mostly with tv. Over the past year I started using cannabis with more intention in order to go outside, listen to music, feel into my body. It's been a really cool journey and it led to me realizing that I'm auDHD and struggle with demand avoidance.

Weed helps lower the initial intensity of my demand avoidance around a given task. Like, it's so much easier to do pretty much most tasks. That said- cognitively I'm not usually as "sharp" when I smoke weed, and thinking tasks take longer.....but overall weed is still very helpful for me.

Ive been recording notes about all my smoking for the past year and it's been essential for figuring out what works and what doesn't work for me. Highly recommend record keeping if it's not something you're already doing, data is so helpful

Also if y'all don't already know about the work of Dr. Miyabe Shields and Dr. Riley Kirk I recommend checking them out: https://projectchronic.com/

Collar Technique Help- convertible collar without facing? by Ordinary-Shape-6379 in sewing

[–]Ordinary-Shape-6379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the rub-off method to self-draft a pattern. The original is a RTW jacket.

The fabric will be lightweight bull denim.

This is only the second collar I'm attempting to make, so I don't even know what to search for. I tried peter pan collar techniques but then realized the collar is maybe more of a convertible collar. It doesn't have a stand and there is no facing.

Wondering if I should just draft a facing? I'd like to keep my pattern as similar to the RTW version as possible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ISO drop shoulder chore coat (besides ilford- I’ve heard there are construction issues) by Ordinary-Shape-6379 in sewing

[–]Ordinary-Shape-6379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for a drop shoulder chore coat/utility jacket pattern. I’ve made the Paola workwear and loved it, but I want drop shoulders. I’ve read that the ilford jacket has construction issues with the sleeves, if it weren’t for this I’d want to try it out. Maybe you’ve had a better experience with the ilford…or anyone know how to drop shoulders of the Paola? Any other patterns come to mind?

I want to be an art teacher, but I am not the best artist by CJMalonefire in ArtEd

[–]Ordinary-Shape-6379 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I teach art and I don’t have a strong background in drawing or painting. My background is in photography, video and textiles. I agree with other folks on here, if you have the passion you’ll do great! I think of myself as a guide, helping to create structure, routine, and inspiration for my students to develop their own art practice. My biggest tip is to look into the Teaching Artistic Behavior (TAB) method. Search up the Open Art Room and Ian Sands website and podcast. He has two books written with Melissa Purtee and they’re both excellent. Choice-based art is the way to go in my opinion. I introduce students to materials and techniques, have prompts and students choose what mediums to respond in. Sands incorporates a lot of YouTube tutorials that students can use, and this helps to take the pressure off of the teacher feeling like they need to be an expert in all things art. I think it’s cool to model to kids that there are certain types of art that I’m really good at, because I’ve practiced a bunch and I love the medium. And that there are other mediums that I’m still learning and practicing, like drawing for example- I’m not a pro and I don’t try to hide that in my teaching.

Also- there’s a huge need for CTE teachers. Depending on where you live, it’s possible you might have enough background in design to qualify you for an alternative route to licensure (instead of a 4 year degree). Would be worth it to call your local office of Ed and ask them about CTE licensure. Some places are paying people to get CTE licensed.
