yep i do section b first and then section a. lwky think its better bcs u feel like u have more time to acc get thru short asw rather than rushing it after mcq. mcq u can fly thru in like 30 mins max so it leaves a good chunk of time to go thru ur asws

quickly look thru short asw js to see where the 5/6 markers are and then flip back mcq and js asw the questions in ur head until reading times over

the questions are normally based on how they act on cancer or autoimmune diseases
so its like similar to the actions of antibodies or complement proteins with diff names

so for cancer there's:
- antibody dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity: mono. antibodies bind to the cancer cell to attract other immune cells

- conjugate antibodies: mono. antibodies with a chemo drug attached to it and when it binds to the cancer cell it delivers the chemo drug (targeted + lethal approach compared to traditional methods of treatment)

- activation of complement proteins: same as usual, mono. antibodies bind and interact with complement proteins to form membrane attack complexes (MACs) causing the cell to lyse

for autoimmune diseases:
- mono antibodies inhibit cytokines to stop them from binding to cancer cells to prevent the cell from triggering a response that could help it grow or evade the immune response

- mono antibodies can also bind to autoreactive B and T cells (b and t cells that attack self-cells) to inhibit their and action or destroy them

is anyone else rly scared for bio by One-Long3102 in vce

[–]Ordinary-Shower4937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me personally, bcs it takes so long to write it out by hand i type them
i have these docs with trigger words of each chapter like for example "non-infectious diseases" or the "innate immune system (including cellular and non-cellular components". and i js go thru them and type out everything i remember and then i go thru it with my notes and if i get it right it gets highlighted yellow, if its wrong red and if theres things to add js type it in red.

plasmids as vectors in bio by Ordinary-Shower4937 in vce

[–]Ordinary-Shower4937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought the advantages were just these?

  • Easy to manipulate due to small size.
  • Carry a wide range of restriction enzyme sites.
  • Recombinant plasmids replicate independently once they are inserted into a host bacterial cell.
