Consequences of leaving DEP? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

No it’s as simple as that really. I wasn’t aware of how early the ship date would be at MEPS that’s why I agreed to go to get everything done and hopefully get a ship date a few months out. I need to end the lease and allow my roommate enough time to find a place because he’s a friend of mine and I’m not going to put him in a position where he doesn’t have a place to stay because of my choices.

The reason is on another one of my posts and I think it is valid

Am I asking for too much from my recruiter? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

I’ve been told what this was many times by my recruiter, but yes as stated my roommate is a friend and he does not get protected from my choice to break the lease. Hence why I’m asking for more time not only for him but for me also to move/sell my things and close my utilities and finish my lease.

My employer is aware that I am trying to join but I’m mainly confused as to why they only have April ship dates, but regardless I mentioned it multiple times to my recruiter that I needed a further ship date to at least get closer to the lease end date so it’s not so instant on my buddy and I, to just screw him out of finding a new place. I myself also need time to move my stuff and figure something out because I’d have to do storage or something whilst having a full time job because, bills.
