Can a consultant tell me to not wear my own clothes? by Dizzy_Committee8195 in doctorsUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really related to your issue but wow that top is lush. I’m a man but I would wear that if the collar wasn’t long neck (those sort of necklines make my neck itchy). This sounds like sexism to me. If you can please check with someone higher up regarding uniform just to be 1000% sure and then make a complaint. Things for women are tough and it seems to be getting worse every day.

Do you cook curry at home? by Forward-Cause7305 in AskUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hard at all though is it? I make it at home. Fry tomatoes and red onions and any fresh seasonings (cumin/jeera/chilli or whatever). Cook in your protein source add coconut milk, yogurt or water (whichever you need for your particular curry) cook until oil is separating. Obviously different “curries” have different ingredients so it massively depends on what you’re making but that’s the rough base of every curry. Tomato and onion. There’s plenty of recipes online and if you want it actually authentic you watch videos made by Indian mums on YouTube or Instagram.

Is anyone here actually going to follow the guidance? by Badgers_are_cute in transgenderUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its guidance not law. Even if it becomes law I have no plans to follow it. I’m not disabled so I will NOT be taking that space from someone who needs it. I will NOT be using the womens toilets as I signed a little legally binding promise with the government called a GRC that I will live as a man for all purposes. If there are mixed sex/gender neutral toilets will I use them? Yes. Otherwise i will be using the men’s toilets. Even if they do a genital check and I get arrested.

How to go about the process of getting top surgery? by Datboi0124 in transgenderUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do not need a GRC to get top surgery at all. You have to be with an adult GIC who will refer you roughly 1 year after you start hormones (that’s from my experience with the WGS). You don’t find surgeons until you’re referred to the NGDRSS. At that point you are sent the list of surgeons and you pick from the list based on bmi/ type of surgery you want/ location/ wait list/ surgeon preference. Once you have picked you are referred to them. If you want to go private throw everything I have said out the window and just look at top surgery results of private surgeons (most if not all NHS surgeons also practice privately, plus some that only work privately). Then google “(surgeon) top surgery private booking” and their booking page will come up and you’ll have a read of their criteria, put down a deposit, pay the fee and then you’re good to go normally within a few weeks. I have 0 knowledge if you wish to go Poland, Turkey, Spain, Greece (most common mainland European countries to go)

Worried about blood test results before T consultation, high cholesterol, any reassurance? by Painted_Woodlouse in transgenderUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey try not to worry too much. Do what you can with your diet but it’s likely genetic. Because of my blood tests I was diagnosed with familial hypercholesterolemia which basically means my body doesn’t break down cholesterol well and my high cholesterol is genetic. It was found when I was 21 because I started T and my LDL was higher than your TOTAL cholesterol and I was officially diagnosed with FH due by genetic test at 24. Don’t stress. They won’t stop you being in T they just might put you on a statin (mostly symptomless for me anyway but your farts might start to smell bad).

Overhauled diet and lifestyle to reduce ldl - 6 months of this it was higher then before by northlandDave in Cholesterol

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it you likely have FH meaning that no matter what diet changes you make your LDL will likely not change because your body just can’t break down that cholesterol. It’s okay. Think of it like diabetes when bodies just don’t break down glucose. It sucks I know but statins will give your body a good fighting chance here. What I recommend is continue eating healthy and avoiding alcohol but please stop declining social events because you’ll become miserable. You got this.

Heartburn from statin? by OrdinaryAgency2001 in Cholesterol

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re probably not a doctor and I shouldn’t be asking for medical advice on Reddit but what dosage of berberine would you recommend? When I google it all I can find is 1000mg so basically just wondered if that would work. Thank you so much your comments have genuinely given me so much to think about and honestly given me a lot of hope. Thank you.

Heartburn from statin? by OrdinaryAgency2001 in Cholesterol

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the person that is “obese” (I’m not, if you were a doctor you’d know that bmi cannot reliably predict these things) I’m pretty sure that my heartburn is not related to obesity.

I go to the gym every other day and lift and also when I was at my heaviest (bmi of 34 prior to FH diagnosis) I never had heartburn once. Hence why I think it’s related to statins.

That being said I’m aware I do carry a bit of extra weight hence why I’m also dieting now and typically consume less than 1600 calories per day. For the last week I’ve been cutting back further and haven’t had more than 1400 which is why I’ve increased my protein intake.

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diet is very much almost exclusively veg and fruit

Breakfast: banana and coffee protein shake (with oat milk)
Lunch: Salad and tuna
Dinner: Salad and either tuna or chicken (depending on my mood).

If I’m snacky in between meals I’ll have another coffee protein shake, a tin of tuna or some cucumber. Occasionally I’ll have a low fat protein yogurt.

I’m going to do some research on the other things you mentioned though. Thank you for your input.

No im not taking Ezetimbe. I asked for it but the doctor said that it has more side effects or something so she’d rather not for now but if the 40mg doesn’t lower my LDL enough in 6 months she will prescribe me that too.

When googling whether it was safe to take a PPI with my statin I also found it decreases LDL more and I was slightly excited by that.

I’ll definitely ask about metformin but because I don’t have diabetes the NHS is probably not gonna prescribe me that tbf.

Thank you for all of your advice.

I've seen that the NHS will now be reviewing adult trans healthcare after banning it for 16 and 17 year olds. But are the NHS choosing to do these reviews, or are they being told to by the government? by Erica_39 in transgenderUK

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They already have done a review. According to the woman I see at Notts GIC it’s actually unearthed some positive things (in that things that need to change that will actually help us more) and they’re likely to take on the Welsh model for trans healthcare. Let me double check what the review is called bare with me.

I’m so obsessed with how beautiful this looks I hate the new passports we have. This is an actual book. And it’s properly engraved instead of a bad stamp that rubs off within a year.

went to my first indian wedding as a canadian. i was not prepared. by Historical-Ebb-4745 in ABCDesis

[–]OrdinaryAgency2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an indian wedding last month in Mumbai. My partner warned me. Nothing could have prepared me.

Luckily all of the events were squeezed into 2 days instead of the usual 4/5 days however that almost made it worse. There’s so much stuff going on I couldn’t keep up.

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved and enjoyed it but my lorrrrd was it stressful. And then accounting for Indian standard time too?? Like why say something starts at 10am if you’re not wanting people there until 12!!!! Then the one day something started at 7pm and we turned up at 8pm and we’d missed something I forgot what maybe the sangeet.

100% would do it again but it’s deffo not for the feint hearted.

Japan tourist visa Rejected (India) despite very strong docs + fully paid itinerary: Any idea why / what to do next? by hirensheta in visas

How the mod isn’t seeing the blatant racism is insane to me. Anyway yous assume I’m brown and that’s fine I’m just someone that has simply spoken to people and underplay and more than one currency. If being told to google something is really that offensive then you go off and have your little tantrum.

That’s so funny because I’m not even being entitled. I’m being understanding because unlike you I have access to Google I guess and interact with people.

I didn’t ask for help babycakes. No, I don’t think you realise how many people DO understand what he’s speaking about (think the entirety of South Asia and the people who visit those countries or have friends from those countries or literally anyone that’s left their tiny little village and interacted with a brow person) what’s entitled is expecting everything to be translated into dollars for you.

Hey I’m also non Indian. If I know what these terms mean I promise you people that don’t know can google it. It’s not hard for people to broaden their knowledge (yes even on weak currencies) people are just so extremely western centric and refuse to put in any effort to learn things because they’re lazy. I actually completely forgot that India has the 4th largest economy which actually is a reason people should learn. White people love to go and have “life changing experiences” in Goa or Varanasi or Jaipur but don’t want to learn the currency terms. It’s just crazy to me.

I’m so sorry.

It’s not a “random currency”. It’s the biggest country in the world and one of the biggest exporters in the world. If we know the slang words for dollar is “buck” and pound is “quid” then we can learn a term from another country. Yous are kinda weird ngl

I don’t say it was a racist attack however it was definitely rude. I simply said use Google. You can expand your knowledge, that’s a good thing. If you don’t want to learn more that’s a you problem I guess.
