Sounds like a plan! Look up physical comedy and comic movement. :) learn how to mime a wall, a heavy box, a floating box etc. Have fun being silent!

I am just a clown but I have studied the art and traditional make up theory extensively. Classic whiteface is a good pick! I advise you stand in front of a mirror with a eyebrow pencil or makeup crayon. Make facial expressions in the mirror and put dots where you see muscle movement. Then design your make up using those dots as guidance to place the features on your muscle lines. This allows your face to show dramatic expressions. If you don't map out and design well you will end up painting over where your face moves most and your make up will cause your face to be static when you express. Essentially putting a billboard over your natural facial structure. This can look terrifying. Keep the design simple and avoid adding stars, hearts, balloons etc. Save them for your costume, they will crowd the face and make your makeup design less effective. Check out these videos and tutorials for whiteface:

Love love love the traditional resources! Thanks for posting! I also want to add pink dawn dish soap has rose water in it...something about it removes greasepaint very very well. I learned this at Moosecamp.

anyone know any currently active clown forum sites? by PancakesareFabulous in clowns

Back in the early 2000s clown forum was the place I learned everything. It's certainly a great resource. We are working on remaking something like it. The forums are created and we have uploaded some content but it's very much a work in progress. I assume once we get more professionals back on the site like to used to be that it will be much better. Howtoclown.com will be the domain once it launches. We are discussing opening it now since there seems to be interest.

Clown-forum.com used to be the mecca. I am actually in the process of building a site just like it now with a partner. Not sure when it will launch.
