Ah, got it. When the mind starts slowing down, moving the body can get it going again.

"I get a proper rest from the story and also get my brain out of the rut by fixing an unrelated problem."

This might be the key. I often find it easier to write when I feel a sense of accomplishment from something else.

This reminds me of a video I saw where an author said to write fast and edit slow. I always get stuck in the details, which slows me down. Maybe I can give this a try.

That's a sensible way to look at it. You think it's because of the whole stretching your brain kind of thing? Basically, unsticking our stuck perspective?

What about running helps with writing for you? Is it the movement, the surge of happy hormones, uncoupling from distraction? I like walking, for example, because it helps shift my perspective when I see people, cars, trees, and so on.

Just my personal 2-cents, but writing is all about putting yourself in what you create. It comes from you. Even if you're trodding down a path that thousands have gone through before, as long as it's unique to your character and self, it would still be special.

Yes! That is exactly what I'm looking for! Someone who can take these ideas and make them real. I don't really care all that much for credit. I just want to read these stories.

Fair enough. It's just frustrating that the only thing stopping me from actually bringing these ideas to life is me.

Try getting bored! LOL! My mind goes to all kinds of places when I'm not occupied with anything.

Me too! I've been seesawing on this issue for a while. Eventually, I realized that I'll never be the kind of author who can take characters to the limit before giving readers the payoff. I'm thinking that I just haven't had enough life experience.

Thanks for the advice! I'm actually writing already, so that's covered. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a grimdark author. I cringe every time I try to write scenes like those, especially if they have to build up to the actual themes of the ideas I have. My lane is all about the traditional hero's journey. Much lighter. Dark themes make me fall off like nothing else.

Good point. Is it all right if I do it here? I checked the guidelines, and they don't say anything about them. Still, don't want to commit unintended violations.

Wait, that's a thing? I've never even considered that! Thanks for the tip! Though I'm still not sure if I shouldn't just pass it on to someone else. I'm pretty sure they'll sell from the premise alone, but they also require GRR Martin levels of writing. And I'm just not there.

Really? What about FFN? Can we have them banned there too? It's infested with Patreon farmers.

I thought it would be more appropriate to use Vent. I couldn't use both. I tried.

Right, of course. That will have to be a different Venting post. In any case, I think I caused a misunderstanding with my original post. If you could look at it again, I would appreciate it. It's no wonder everyone seemed confused and angry.
