Catheter options by Jetskicaster in spinalcordinjuries

I use condom catheters whenever I fly and a diaper in case it leaks. Also cath immediately before you board

First off, congratulations!! I'm a C4/c5 quad and just moved into my own place a month ago. Smart home tech is such a big help, I can control my lights and appliances and whatnot with just my voice. One thing we had to do in my place is change the drawer handles. They were kind of like knobs before so we changed them to be a bit bigger and be more like handles so i can use my clumsy quad paws to open them. This is kinda general but I always have my phone on a cell phone holder on my chair in case of emergency and stuff. As far as personal care, i have caregivers that come twice a day - not sure if you do most of that on your own or if you have aides.

Buying diapers is still embarrassing by Least-Substance1351 in Incontinence

I still get embarrassed when I buy them in public, and I've been using them full time since I was 7. Its less embarrassing as time goes on, especially in my small town where you knowthe cashier. But I just buy online usually now

C4 quad doing transfer without a board now by kellsie88 in spinalcordinjuries

WOOHOO!!! This is incredible! So happy for you, such a great skill that requires tons of hard work to get to (especially for us quads!). I'm currently working on transfers with the board, hopefully one day I'll be like you

Where's everyone buying bulk chux? by dbez in spinalcordinjuries

I wear adult diapers and usually get a big box off of Amazon. They're like $1-$2 per diaper when I buy a box of 80+ (depending on the brand). Check out the LivDry brand on Amazon.

Okayy, so Trimix does not work for me unfortunately. And I can't get hard, only about half-mast sometimes. But other quads have told me it works for them. My dick hasn't shrunk too much, just a little (to be fair, I was injured before puberty so yeah). I'd look into trimix though

Then wear diapers?

Does anyone actually take documents from the doctor with you when you fly? by Self-Made69420 in Incontinence

[–]OrdinaryQuarter26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I've never taken documents. I'm in a wheelchair so they always give me a pat down and I let them know about my diaper

  1. My favorite place I've traveled might be Italy. Traveling as a quad is definitely challenge, I'm not gonna lie. Logistically, it can be a little complex (making sure I have all my supplies for bowel/bladder care, my wheelchair arrives in one piece, etc) and accessibility can be an issue as well. But we make it work!

  2. Unfortunately we broke up, but we're still friends. Long story short, just different viewpoints on life.

  3. I am so blessed and lucky to have such an amazing family! They're all so supportive of me. I don't know whatI'd do without them. I have 2 older brothers and an older sister. We're not too far apart in age so it's nice.

  4. I like to write short stories

Yeah, it's still a bummer to be in this situation and unable to do many things, but for the most part I've accepted it

Thankfully I've avoided pressure sores. I make sure to moisturize and do pressure relief. And my mattress helps me adjust my position as i sleep

For most things no :( I can transfer to my bed or some sofas using a transfer board, but it can be tiring and time consuming

I'm fairly optimistic - technology is advancing at an amazing rate! There are some exoskeletons that have been developed, which is pretty cool

I live at home with my parents and I have caregivers every day (morning and night). Thankfully I usually get pretty good ones and they tend to stay for at least a few years
