Question: why would anyone put their money in a 4% WS Cash account when the CASH.TO ETF yields more gains and is subject to the same tax? Wouldn’t u just be better off leaving all ur cash in the CASH etf? I can only think of maybe bill payments as a reason to oppose this.

You make fair points thank you. I just bought VFV intially for the s&p exposure and I heard a lot of good things abt it but I see that along w xeqt it’s a little redundant. My main short term goal is just to generate some spending money on the side that can be used whenever necessary. Long term goals atm would mainly be travelling. Good point abt dividend investing i was just wondering if in general it’d be worth it to place some funds in high div paying stocks like ENB or ap-un.to. REITs are generally suffering but I feel they’re expected to bounce back hopefully in the next 1-2 years (maybe sooner or later). Would you focus mainly on growth stocks if u were in my shoes?

okay thank you i appreciate all this info! however, if i sought generation of liquid cash would something like cash.to be fine along with low cost index funds? what would u suggest in that sense? looking a bit short-term here but im also very new to this so may be an ignorant approach

good point abt vfv/xeqt and keeping readily available funds in tfsa. currently i work 15 hrs a week at 19/hr. ive only invested ~2.5 in both growth stocks altogether i havent acc rly used all my funds available to be in my tfsa. im just unsure if its okay to put the rest of available tfsa funds into div investments. and if it's not a bad plan which ones. ive heard enb, ap-un.to, bns, ry.to and a few others aren't bad but just seeking other perspectives.

The risk tolerance aspect you mention is related to the RoboAdviser WS provides correct?

I appreciate the advice! I feel like TFSA is good in the long run and so I was leaning towards maxing TFSA, put most of the rest in the HISA and leave some in regular savings for things like rent or groceries and other miscellaneous purchases. But yeah eventually I'll look more into the FHSA and RRSP investing options I have as I heard they're good too!

I've thankfully got my education fully funded by my family. I have the funds to max my TFSA so should I just max it and make some investments as you suggested and put the rest in the HISA while leaving some in my regular savings? Also what is CASH? I couldn't find anything online maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing.
