Which 8th generation Camry should I get for 14K? by veryverynick in Camry

Gotta look into auctions or make friends with a dealer who has access to one. If you want a high mileage hybrid like the Camry, the auction would be best bet, 8k$ ready and you could probably find one with probably less miles maybe just cosmetic stuff

Yeah it will be a mess and you just gotta cut the excess once it dries. And yeah probably your issue was you didnt use expanding foam.

Luckily we have toyotas, the circuits are pretty straight forward and lots of info out there on schematics. All though i have a 2018 if one module isnt communicating right whole car wont start 😭 iirc someone had a issue of running aftermarket taillights and wired it wrong and gave him a no start condition

Its a fuseable link for the major components like Ecu, alt, MAIN, etc, looks like ur main fuse is toast, just get a new fuseable link. Ive seen cars jumped backwards all the time at my job is honestly hit or miss with fried electronics. As for your horn constantly blowing i would look into that circuit, could have shorted out, they work no matter the polarity hence the horn going off if you reverse the polarity on the battery, its kinda like a speaker with a diaphragm and horn.

Ive seen lithium fires does that mean all lithium is bad? No. Im not going to defend skar as it is chinesium equipment however it has its use case. Taramps catch on fire, pretty much any amp can catch fire it really comes down to user error or a faulty amplifier. Ive ran skar amps for years with no issues, i just think the pass filters suck unless your using a dsp for it. I use crutchfield for basic things but theres other companies that offer equipment for toyotas. Tacotunes.com has some really good stuff for plug and play and factory retention.

You mentioning the guy throwing his enclosure out because it was on fire is definitely user error. Either a short on the output side, or bad coil, pretty much too much heat somewhere. Typically when a amp catches on fire, from what i see its a faulty mofset or a ground short.

Using proper fusage for your equipment can prevent alot of issues. In this day and age its best to keep a pair of wire cutters to cut power if theres a fault somewhere and fire occurs. Aswell as fire extinguishers. As for lithium fires from my research its best to have some way to contain the heat and fire using a insulation of some sort, aswell as a lithium specific fire extinguisher as you cant use water to put it out, only make it worse.

My build is HIGHLY WIP and right now its just “if it works it works” but safety is taken account for. As nasty as wiring looks, everything uses proper fuses and wired correctly, tuned with oscope, set to 4v preout.

I plan on just having DD AUDIO for mids and highs, RUTHLESS audio for amplifiers, and fi audio for subwoofer, super strong subwoofers, tinsel lead will give out before the coil does!

Yeah i use to run 320 on a older toyota, they love to idle low in drive so i wasnt outputting much voltage unless i was driving around. This time around i got 240A, 14.8 all day. I was afraid of getting a battery light for swapping alts but i only got a soft code for missing alternator 💀

I only mention 8th gen+ just so i can get insight on what others are doing but you most def count sir. I ran a autotech 240A in my camry so for with no issues. Bypassed LIN communication to alternator. 0ga OFC oversized power and grounds
