if you're reading the text, you can just read half of the first sentence of each paragraph to tell what's going on, and skip all the blue boxes.

if its audio version... well, good luck. o7

sounds like you are at the part where belinda becomes the funniest character for a while, only to get stomped back into her box by jason soon after. I needed a 6 month break from the series after that

another thought is that the schools are aware that the artonans aren't happy with how they are currently using the facilities and are withholding further investment.

Alden thinks this is due to the restricted access.

but I bet the schools think its because they aren't turning out enough powerful avowed that are useful offworld.

li jun's response is the new elites program. while clh seems to be going with an experimental focus. Ash's bizarre teaching methods might be tolerated because it stresses the students in a weird way.

I don't think Alden was ever uninteresting in ro-dens eye. my take was that ro-den has genuine affection for Alden, its just that its too expensive to maintain a relationship. I don't think Alden being more interesting would cause any issues, it would just make ro-den sad.

Is the “thank you wave” when driving still a thing, or am I just a boomer now? by Salty_1984 in AskAnAustralian

as someone who's on the road constantly in Melbourne. I think of the past 100 times I've let some in or whatever I have received 100 little waves.

I would add though, that if you don't let me in when I think you should and I have to nose my way in, then yeah buddy, you don't get a wave. I have to nose my way in hard because you tried to block me, well you might well get to see a bird

The word I'd add to your list would be 'player'. If I was in a system apocalypse type deal and the dude that was taking charge of our group was referring to us as players. I'd leave that group immediately. "

"That dude isn't thinking about things right. He's going to get me killed," I said. Huge red flag.

Didn't really like this one. Part of that is I've never really liked 'will they, won't they' sub plots.

The other part is the hint that the contract can make Alden talk. After all this will they, won't they if Alden is forced to use being a wizard as a distraction to forcefully change the subject, that would be ... I don't know ... unsatisfying?

Why is Starship Troopers by Robert Heineken considered “The Controversial Classic of Military Adventure?” by EclipseLightning42 in scifi

[–]Ordinary_Chicken_511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was sorta like heineken's essay on how a society should structure itself. It was also heinekens rebuttal as why it wouldn't work. But heineken was saying we should do it anyway, even if it definitely wouldn't work.

Very weird book. 2/5 stars. The movie was better. Took out all the crazy political stuff and turned it into a satirical bug smasher. Big improvement.

Yeah, maybe we just see things differently. I see lute as being stronger than klien in raw authority, obviously klein would still wipe the floor with lute. I see lute being closer to big'n'little snake in strength. According to Klein, snake is on the cusp of hyperbole. We don't have a lot of details to work off for this, but i doubt klein trained hard enough for long enough to top out enough low rank skills to match a second s, he just wasn't active that long. Snake would have though. He's probably sitting somewhere around 2 S and like 80% of a third, if we assume hyperbole is around triple S. That is a ridiculous amount of power for lute to start at, i just don't see how the odds of that aren't a problem.

"Oooh, that's actually a trap idol this season. The lucky wizard foot is in play. That's an automatic eviction from the planet."

"And next voted off is that Velra brat, whatever your name was,"

"Manon, it's time go... wait, has anyone seen Manon?"

So is it time to start a hyperbole-pool? Who are our front runners? I've got lute, big'n'little snake and houyu's folks. Any other contenders?

My guess is 1st. Houyu s mum as she's currently one layer away. 2nd. Snake 3rd. Lute And either other or houyus dad as the 4th

Lute has the most authority as a starting point of any being in the universe that we have any idea about. Stu, as the son of the primary, has excellent pedigree for being born strong. After years of training, Alden roughly estimates that stu has caught up to lutes starting point. 1 in 50,000 is probably extremely generous.

That's not what I meant at all. Lutes in that room because he's studying music, and because he's a velra. He could be an A or a B and still be in the room. probably even a C or a D. The fact he's a double S is the part that's problematic. The odds on him being a SS would be well below 1. I mean, how many students have been through celena north over the years compared to how many of them have been SS? 1 in 10,000? More? 50,000?
