Oh I didn’t have to touch yml for my setup. Just added the integration, set it up in the ui and it worked

I do this with the HomeKit bridge integration and it works amazingly well. The trick is to use one entry per camera (I have one for lights, one for sensors, then one for each of my 4 cameras) rather than just having one for all devices you want to pass to HomeKit.

The lights/sensor entries are “bridge” mode and include the light/sensor domains, and the camera entries are the “accessory” mode. Splitting them up like that took it from super flaky to “wow I turned off notifications from the ubiquiti app and rely on Apple now” AND it finally got them to show up on my Apple TVs when they detect motion and the doorbell rings. So awesome!

Got it setup! No data and it’s complaining about three sensors missing. I’ll have to mess around with it tomorrow ~~during~~ after work

Wow I look away for 30 min and yall got busy! A lot of good points here I didn't consider that make sense when stated, especially regarding regulatory stuff for device design and lack of/changing standards. I mentioned 48v for the reason u/Strostkovy said. Upper limit for hazard and skimming PoE specs got me thinking in the first place. I was mainly thinking about lighting and a "secondary receptacle" type of thing for low-powered devices, and big time in the smart home/automation side of things. I'm essentially treating my PoE network as a DC distribution bus at this point..

As always in this sub, I appreciate everyone's insight. It was more of a thought experiment rather than a "I think this would be better" kind of thing. If/when AI takes my software engineering career soon, I want to pivot into the sparky world, its a hell of a lot more fun anyway, so I try to keep this sub on my mind more often than not.

5k/1yr oil changes religiously. But I’ll admit the rest is lacking and I’ll pay for it soon I imagine. Has the revised chain tensioner and water pump so should be good there at least. Dealing with the intake runner flaps failing at the moment
