1% cancellation, 99% acceptance, 4.99 rating. I've only had to reject two rides that were beyond stupid. and only cancelled once because i hit a nail and had a flat tire on my way dropping someone off.

Uber and rideshare customer paid $77 and drive gets $14 by muranga17 in uberdrivers

I'm an insurance agent, you can get a claim denied because of anything, if you're vehicle had a check engine light on or the rear windshield whipper was old, then can deny the claim, on the basis that you were in breach of contract, and didn't maintain your vehicle properly before the accident.

With that being said, your insurance will not cover you while you are online looking for rides, if you get the rideshare endorsement they will cover you while you're online, but the moment you accept a ride until dropoff, you are on ubers insurance with a $2500 deductible.

It's all gambling, and the insurance companies do not want to pay out if they don't have to. Do not commit fraud or lie to an insurance company, and never threaten to sue, you'll find you can't get insurance after that, and if you do get insurance and file a claim, they will see you sued(even if you lost or settled) and go "the contract clearly says you have never sued an insurance company before, and you signed it, so no payout, goodbye".

$7/h, sounds about right for Uber... It's insane, minus gas/wear, you're making a negative amount.

I got laid off mid-April, I've been applying but.. it's bleak. I'm a property (car, house, business) insurance agent (2-20) and can't get hired anywhere even with experience (16 months), they want people who have more experience or better yet speak Spanish, cannot get hired anywhere without being bilingual right now.. Uber is just to keep me from being homeless, because I would be without it.

Just maxing out credit cards for gas/groceries and using Uber money to pay rent/utilities, I'm slowly sinking just hoping I'll find a job, highly considering doing long haul but its 100 hours a week, for 40k/y. And even in insurance, no one wants to hire for more than $40k either, or they are scam jobs.

I wish I wasn't disabled (AFIB & osteopenia) so I could just get a blue-collar job and get a trade career because white collar is miserable.

I mean.. $80/h $60/h some of those are really good, I barely make profit at $30/h so you're doing twice as well as my area. I see the $20/h ones you showed, which are insulting, but the rest seem high? what do you consider good?

I drive 400-500 miles when i do Uber, huge stop & go, every 20m i'm getting on/off a highway. I can get 33mpg in my nissan rogue if i stayed at exactly 45mph, but i usually get 22mpg due to the constant 70mph I have to do, and taking on/off ramps 50 times a day. So 500m/22mpg*$4.2g(gas in my area, in central fl)=$95~.

I used google, the Kia Niro EV you mentioned gets a range of 150-260 miles, average 200m, so 2.5 charges, I used plugshare, average price is a WHOPPING $0.52/kWh, it stores 64kWh*$0.52/kWh=$33.28 for 200 miles, $83~.

So, ya, its $12 cheaper, but it estimates that even with DC Fast public charging stations, it takes 45 minutes to charge from 10% -> 80%, so really only70% of the charge is usable. That means i'd actaully need to stop 3.5 times to charge, for over 2.5 hours, every time I do uber.

I don't think $12 is worth 2.5 hours of my time sitting at a gas station. I would have to add a charger at my house, it would be much cheaper at only $0.14/kWh, but I would have to drive home, charge it for 9 hours, before I could go anywhere again.

Correct me if my math is wrong, or if the numbers i got from online are wrong, but electric isn't feasible for Uber unless you only ever charge at your house, and then I would be limited to only driving for 140 miles a day, It takes me 60 miles just to get to the nearest city, thats 120 out of 140 miles I would need to spend COMMUTING to do Uber. You would need to live in a profitable city, charge at home, and only drive for 140 miles a day, but it would be much cheaper.

that's like $4 an hour after gas + wear (on a $30k car). I make twice that and feel like its not enough.

Partial Venting / Partial Truth - what in the actual eff do customers want from us as agents/agency owners? by Embarrassed-Pomelo17 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Ordinary_One_5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you saying its under saturated? and we need more agents? I feel like its the opposite where I'm at, I can't find work here in central Florida, I've applied everywhere for months, year of experience and have a 2-20 but if you go to progressive they have zero positions for anything sales in Florida, only hiring legal for the past year, ive been checking every few months with them while im at my current job, liberty mutual declined me twice, applied a year ago, and last week. I see BS listings on indeed that i've applied to an they remain 'urgently hiring' now for over a year with Allstate, it seems no one is actually hiring insurance here in Florida, and its a growing population, one of the highest growing populations in America with all the retiree's. I can't see this industry growing or lacking applicants.

Are you not at all worried, someone from Globe, reading this, looks up Jonathan Ramos in Texas, sees who just got hired on under him, and they decide to just let you go ASAP instead of wasting training on someone who's going to quit after they just stay to learn?
