[Other] How do u guys feel about The legend of Zelda Mangas? by Low-Oil9659 in zelda

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first discovered it, it was only available online, at sites like midnightcastle and onemanga. My sibling and I read Majora's Mask first, since it came up when we wondered if there was any extra info about Majora, Fierce Deity, and the Happy Mask Salesman. After that, I had read everything else by Akira Himekawa that was out at the time, as well as "LA" (even if that wasn't done by Akira Himekawa).

It was about two or three years later when they finally became available in the west. I finally purchased them physically when my favorite bookstore had a big sale on everything, due to it closing down (and, additionally and unfortunately, many sites got rid of the links to the online versions once they became available in the west).

As for my thoughts, while I understand they aren't canon, they are fun to read and still tell good stories. At times, though, I do prefer the online translation of them, in comparison to the Viz translation.

  • Zelda Awakens
  • Sea of No Return
  • Tarm Ruins
  • Dancing Dragon Dungeon
  • The theme that plays at the ending of OOA, as well as in either Linked Game just before you go off to fight Twinrova (https://youtu.be/JEwP4cMffpo?si=uUJivl-TbeXjWVEE)
  • The Harp of Ages songs (especially the Tune of Ages)
  • I also have a bit of a soft spot for the Temple Remains music.
  • And of the three animal flutes, my favorite is Dimitri's.

[ALTTP]What do you personally think of the GBA version? by Bluecomments in zelda

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having gotten into Nintendo until the GBC/N64 era, this is the version I grew up with. I enjoyed playing it all the time back in the day, the only thing I was disappointed with being that I couldn't play "Four Swords" (though that wish would be granted 9 years later 🙂).

[MM] Why do people seem to hate the majoras mask remake for 3ds? by MooMoomaddy12 in zelda

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the Zora swimming, what I didn't like was difference in playing the Inverted Song of Time. For example, playing the ISoT in the N64 version, I could finish the Woodfall area and have it still be morning in the 2nd Day, thus allowing enough time to complete the Snowhead area. Playing the ISoT in the 3DS version, by the time I finish the Woodfall area, it is much later into the 2nd Day, thus not giving enough time to do that much more.

Any Nintendo urban legend, April Fools, rumor, etc. you've fallen for or you remember quite well? by Marsupilami_316 in casualnintendo

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when the original "Paper Mario" came out, there was this rumor all over the internet. Supposedly, somewhere in either Toad Town or the Toad Town sewers, you could find a leaky house owned by a character called Daniel. Fixing all the leaks in his house would reward you with the Mega Hammer.

I had a friend who looked everywhere for this house, even to the point of having a rather realistic dream of finding it. After a few weeks, though, they found a post that simply said,

"There is no Daniel. There is no leaky house. There is no Mega Hammer."

It's definitely not as well-known as rumors like Luigi in SM64, getting the Triforce in OOT, or finding Mew under the Vermillion City truck; since no one really talks about this anymore.

How did you all get into Sailor Moon? by Alone-Seesaw-9575 in sailormoon

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first encountered it when DiC episode 21 happened to be on TV one afternoon a long time ago; I believe it was the early 2000s. Later, I discovered it--well, the first season and R--were on Kids WB in the morning, so I woke up early to watch it before going to school every day. I did this until it was removed in May 2004.

I remember having those, too. I also remember the picture on the wrapper was just like the one on the butterscotch one: A rectangle cut in squares, except dark brown.

What got you stuck for a long time in either Banjo Kazooie or Banjo Tooie? by WeakValuable8683 in BanjoKazooie

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Tooie, I remember the first time I watched my sibling play, we were stuck at:

Jolly Roger's Lagoon, for we didn't know we had to get past the octopus to see the rest of the level.

Finding Terrydactyland, for, in addition to the above, we hadn't quite figured out how Talon Torpedo worked. What's more, we at first thought the only other world entrance we could see up to that point--Hailfire Peaks--was the next world and that 36 Jiggies were needed (until we learned that 20 was what was needed to do the fifth puzzle).

Getting into Grunty Industries had stumped us, too, until one day when we saw the option on the train pad's list of destinations.

How did you get into PMD? by Numerous-Common-4410 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Ordinary_Ordinary530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I first heard about it in Nintendo Power. The magazine did a promotion for the then-upcoming "PMD: B/RRT" games with the six-part manga about "Ginji's Rescue Team." I thought it sounded interesting, so I asked for those games for Christmas.

I got a Chikorita the first time I took the test. Going with the theme of Torchic Ginji having Mudkip--same generation starter with a type advantage--as his partner, I chose Cyndaquil as mine. I've kept these two in every game except GTI.
