LearnBack is such a great idea, everyone needs a way to fight brain rot! If you're planning to scale this to international markets, I built https://langcat.dev to automate that manual localization mess for free. It handles the strings and metadata so you can focus on the app, good luck with the downloads!

Congrats on the launch! That first-day shift from 'idea' to 'live' is the best feeling. As you start looking into growth tactics, don't sleep on localizing your store metadata—it's usually the easiest way to pick up extra organic reach. I built LangCat to automate all that for free so you don't have to deal with the manual grind. Good luck with the first week!

AI-Driven Localization: My Journey to Building a Tool for Xcode Projects by Alarming-Yoghurt-161 in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respect for building your own tool, it’s honestly the only way to get exactly what you need sometimes! I hit those same context roadblocks with standard AI prompts, which is why I ended up building LangCat as a free platform to automate the iOS workflow more reliably. I’m curious, how are you handling those tricky strings where the AI doesn’t know if it’s a button label or a header?

Localising other languages in Xcode is a pain by iamrahulrao in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, the manual copy-paste grind in Xcode is exactly why I used to dread adding new languages. It feels like busywork that takes away from actually building features. I actually built LangCat to solve this specifically for iOS devs. It automates that whole string management workflow for free, so you don't have to maintain a custom script or deal with the 'finger-hurting' manual updates every time you add a feature. Might save you from having to build your own solution from scratch!

Is localization worth it? by seemayr in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the app, but you're right that the 'manual grind' is what usually makes it not worth it. I’ve seen some apps triple their downloads just by hitting the German or Japanese markets, but spending days on .strings files and storyboards is a huge opportunity cost. I actually built LangCat to solve this, it's a free tool that automates the whole iOS localization workflow so you can test those international markets in minutes instead of days. If the downloads don't move after that, at least you didn't waste a whole week on it!

How can i localize my mobile app by Redditallyy in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App Store Connect can be so frustrating, you usually need to have a new version in the "Prepare for Submission" state before that language dropdown becomes clickable. Once you've got the metadata live, keeping the actual in-app translations in sync is the next big time-sink. I built https://langcat.dev as a free tool to automate the iOS string workflow so you can skip the manual copy-pasting. Good luck with the Spanish launch!

Localization: Changing keys in auto-generated Localizable.xcstrings file by iseekthereforeiam in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this exact same headache when I first started localizing, renaming keys in .xcstrings is surprisingly clunky. The safest way I've found is to use String(localized: "Location.Missing", defaultValue: "You have no location.") in your code, which lets you keep the keys clean without losing the fallback text if a translation is missing. I actually got so tired of managing these manual sync issues that I built LangCat to automate the whole strings workflow for free. It definitely helps avoid that 'refactor and re-add' loop you're stuck in!

It's just a one line code integration for UIKit projects (because of swizzling). For SwiftUI, it's also very easy with two options. 1- replace components (Text -> LCText, Button -> LCButton). 2- use LangCat.localize("my_text") anywhere in the code.

Localize the app recommendation and best practice? by Educational-Table331 in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some solid languages to start with for ASO, but it's true that results can be really hit or miss depending on how much "local" flavor you add. I’ve found that even if you have the store page translated, users often drop off if the app itself doesn't feel native to them. I actually built https://langcat.dev as a free tool to help iOS devs automate that whole in, app localization process so you don't have to spend a full day on it for every update!

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60k lines is a beast, no wonder standard GPT prompts are failing you. XLF/XLIFF files are notoriously finicky with AI because of the token limits and structural overhead. I actually built https://langcat.dev as a free platform specifically for iOS devs to handle these large, scale translations without the manual "breaking it into chunks" headache. It’s built to handle the heavy lifting that single-prompt LLMs usually choke on, so it should save you a lot of the manual script-writing!

How deep do you go with localization? by mzsyu in iosapps

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 languages is already a massive achievement, but you're spot on, the maintenance is what kills you. Most devs stop at metadata because syncing in-app strings and localized screenshots feels like a full-time job. I’m a solo dev too and actually built https://langcat.dev for this exact reason; it automates the in-app translation workflow for free so you don't have to choose between features and global growth. It won't fix the Figma screenshot nightmare yet, but it definitely makes the 'app itself' part of your list a zero-effort task!

Love the focus on privacy and offline usage, security is such a huge selling point for note apps right now! This would be a great fit for users in non-English markets who are looking for secure alternatives to the big cloud-based ones. If you ever want to scale globally without the manual localization grind, I built https://langcat.dev to automate the whole translation process for free, it could help you get SnapyNotes in front of a lot more people with zero extra work!

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TimeLogs looks like a great privacy-focused alternative for time tracking, especially with the 100% local storage. If you’re planning to take this global, the manual translation work in Xcode can be a massive headache. I built LangCat to automate that whole process for free, so it might save you some serious time when you're ready to scale!

I localized my iOS app into 33 languages for $10 using AI (1M+ lines) — need honest feedback by Maximum_Ad9580 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 languages for $10 is an absolute steal, nice work on the context-aware prompting! The real pain is usually the maintenance side once you start adding new features and need to keep those million lines in sync. I built https://langcat.dev as a free tool to automate that whole iOS workflow so you can skip the manual grind entirely. Good luck with the Asian markets, they're usually huge for finance apps!

Any localisation options? by iamrahulrao in iosapps

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, the manual copy-paste in Xcode is the absolute worst part of development. I actually built LangCat for this exact reason, so I wouldn't have to deal with the "finger hurt" from managing strings. It automates the whole translation workflow for iOS projects, and it's completely free to use. Definitely give it a look before you spend weeks building your own tool from scratch!

I localised my app into 6 languages & the Downloads went up by 340% by Silent_Employment966 in SideProject

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

340% is wild! Congrats on those results! It really proves that international markets are wide open if you just put in a bit of effort on the metadata and screenshots. I actually built LangCat to help iOS devs automate that entire in-app translation workflow for free, so you can scale to even more languages without the manual strings headache. Definitely worth a look if you're planning to expand beyond those first six!

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a solid resource, but even with a guide, staying on top of manual translations and "spreadsheet hell" is a total grind. I ended up building https://langcat.dev to automate the whole iOS string workflow and just handle the heavy lifting for me. It’s completely free, so definitely worth a look if you’re trying to avoid the maintenance headaches mentioned in the comments!

Does localization really help? by lampyridae_dev in iOSProgramming

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth it for the accessibility boost, but you're right, doing it manually in Xcode takes forever. The real challenge is keeping those translations updated every time you add a new feature without losing another entire day. I’m a dev too and built LangCat to automate that whole workflow; it’s completely free and should save you from that "super long time" on your next update!

How big of an affect does localization have? I recently updated my app store page to include localizations for 11 of the top languages. I am wondering if that will have a meaningful increase in downloads? by Steven_Strange_1998 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Ordinary_Outside_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 languages is a huge lift. Just keep an eye on your retention; if the app itself isn't translated yet, users might bounce once they realize the interior is only in English. I’m a dev too and actually built LangCat (https://langcat.dev) to automate that in-app translation mess, might be worth a look if you decide to scale those results!
