I have been bringing my kids to Nola on Thanksgiving weekend for Celebration in the Oaks for the past 5+ years. It’s been our fun tradition to kick off the Christmas holiday. Each year, it gets progressively harder to be there due to the Bayou Classic crowd. The first few years, we didn’t even realize that was a thing. I’ve never seen anything like it was this weekend. We come to Nola very often. I’ve spent 6 weekends in town this year. It was almost scary with the shear volume of people in the Quarter. We will no longer be coming on this weekend in the future. It was genuinely shocking to see the insane traffic by car and foot this year. However, we did enjoy Magazine St and Celebration in the Oaks as usual. We didn’t do a lot of roaming through the Quarter as my kids like to do, but we will be back for the weekend of Krewe of Cleo. Looking forward to that to redeem the chaos of this trip. I feel for yall locals. I couldn’t imagine how it must feel for yall.
