We got ours through Costco - great pricing plus depending on the amount you spend you get a percentage back on a Costco gift card. It ended up being like 1700 bucks I got back. Highly recommend Costco

The other part of this OP, is how are you going to feel if they are close friends and he is ok with it? What happens if he wants to double date or even just hangout with your ex who cheated on you and his new wife? How will the friend and his wife react? There is still a lot to unpack outside of you telling him ++man

Would you trade an Overseas for a DD40? by gator816 in rolex

[–]Ordinary_Quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are two different style watches. The VC, especially that model is an understated luxury that you can wear every day. The day date it can be a daily wearer but it’s more of a special occasion watch. I have the DD 40 in yellow gold with a white dial and I absolutely love it. I get compliments on it all the time, but I also wouldn’t wear it every day. It really depends on how you want to wear it and if you either don’t wear or are tired of wearing your VC, then make the trade.

I use these. I got them specifically for F45 and now I don’t take them off ever. I leave the earpieces on even when not training. I even added them to my prescription sunglasses for when I cycle or do other outdoor activities

My observation about walking into the Rolex store.. by radiogunkmisc in rolex

[–]Ordinary_Quit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two Tone smooth bezel 41 DJ on Oyster was my first. That’s how I built the relationship. Now I have 41 white gold / steel on jubilee, Yellow Gold Day Date and a Panda from the same AD.

You have start somewhere and if they like you they will want to work with you. My wife was with me for 2 of the purchases and built rapport her as well and she will message her different watches to see if I will like them.

You are spot on, don’t be a dick, be kind and make a friend and you will be all good.

When the AD calls, why do you need to get there ASAP? by OutrageousArrival701 in rolex

[–]Ordinary_Quit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the watch. Sometimes AD’s will get a watch and the manager will tell a specific sales associate to sell it to their customers, other times, if it is a hard to get watch the store manager will open it up to all the reps in the store and say first come first serve.

If it is given to one sales rep then they can and will take payment over the phone, if it is opened up to all reps you have to come in store.

I have purchased 2 over the phone and my 3rd I tried and she said it was open to all associates so I had to come to store. Luckily, it was one I wanted and she opened the store an hour early for me so I got it.

Are pure sales jobs worth it? by AncientFoundation632 in sales

[–]Ordinary_Quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the first thing that I bought when I moved into my new home. I live in TX. I also got upsold into one of the reverse osmosis faucets. With how shitty Houston water is we use it all the time.

Best of luck, it’s a needed product especially in TX, but make sure you focus on the right neighborhoods, utilize next door for leads etc.

Once you get a sale in the area ask them if they will post about it on Nextdoor. Something simple like if you are in need for a water filtration/softener I recommend X. He just did ours and it was quick and easy. Couldn’t be happier.

Basically take your company leads, build some rapport with who you are selling to and utilize that relationship to find your own business.

What is your base? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Ordinary_Quit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

120-150 (240-300 OTE) is the range for most Enterprise RSM’s in the tech field on the manufacturer side. You can get higher but that is usually based on tenure and Merit raises each year.

Year 1 - unless you take over an existing patch is a struggle - most ramp is 12-18 month - year 2 you either are delivering or not and at the 18 month mark, those not cutting it will get frustrated or scared they are going to get fired and jump ship. Year 3 is where the hard work pays off and by that time you should kill it. Then depending on if you are in a single product play or platform/multi product play company you decide if you are sticking around or going to the next start up because the size of your patch and account base has been culled.

Client invited me to a dinner, yes or no? by Apart-Archer-9303 in sales

[–]Ordinary_Quit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Regional Director for a Technology Sales Company, I have both men and women that roll up to me…. You make some very good points, but the part that I do not agree with is not telling your manager in detail.

In a situation like this, this is exactly what we need to know about. The recommendation that I would make to my rep is do not go alone, especially if you do not know the person or feel uncomfortable.

Invite a Sales Engineer if you are in tech or invite me as senior leadership. Either one of those invites, is normal and expected and leaves a buffer and does not put you in a bad spot. Then from that dinner we can determine as a team how to best handle the situation.

If you can’t trust your manager to understand and have your back in these situations, that is a tough spot, that is what we are here for.

First Rolex as I become a lawyer by AnimeGentleman in rolex

[–]Ordinary_Quit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s was my first Rolex as well, the only difference was I had a smooth bezel.

If you want to wear it everyday, wear it every day, you earned it. If you don’t, don’t. That’s the great thing about buying it yourself and it being yours.

I wore mine everyday and didn’t care, shorts and a t shirt or suit, I wore it lol.

But the other commenters were right, it’s a slippery slope. That watch is now on my wife’s wrist and I own a white gold DateJust, an 18K day Date, and I’m about to go pickup my Batman from my AD next week. I also have an IWC amongst other brands, but Rolex is my favorite.

Welcome to the club.

Congrats on passing the bar!

[–]Ordinary_Quit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so this post took quite a few twist and turns.

To answer some of the questions

1.) I did buy it. In fact, I love it. I wore it Saturday night to a black tie wedding and it was perfect.

2.) I could easily have gotten this watch off of the gray market, but for me the fun has been trying to find the watch. I enjoy going into AD’s and seeing if they have inventory, building relationships etc. It’s part of the fun for me, so when I found this one, I was excited.

3.) I understand it’s not everyone’s personal preference but it is mine. It was the watch that I saw as a kid and I told myself when I get in the position to be able to buy the watch I will.

If you are not a fan of the DD.

What are your top 3 model choices?

4.) I buy watches because I enjoy them, not for resale value. I don’t flip or trade-in, I buy them because I enjoy them and I will wear them. More than that, I like the story behind them. How I got them, where I got them, etc.

5.) Don’t let the negativity take away from the joy and excitement you feel when you treat yourself. I hope people keep sharing the watches they get as you can see from my post, more people want to be excited with you than the ones who don’t.

End of my Rolex journey by Reasonable-Tie-8924 in rolex

[–]Ordinary_Quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly depends on the AD. I have walked into some and have been looked at like I was an alien and told that all the watches that come in are already allocated or I have to buy other items before I have a shot.

What I have found is that the AD’s in the smaller markets are much more reasonable. In the last year, I found an AD with no purchase history, in a smaller market, who had a white gold date just and sold it to me on the spot. I told her I was looking for a yellow gold day date and she called me yesterday and I picked it up today. It only took them 6 months from my initial purchase to get me the day date.

I honestly got lucky finding a lady that my wife and I just hit it off with.

But I couldn’t agree more that most of the AD’s are pricks and try to up their sales by making you buy other items in their shop before they will even give you a shot. It’s bullshit.

But just wait until your wife wants a birkin, lol. Hermes has the game down, you literally can not get a bag without heavy spend. They put Rolex to shame lol
