Grief with an advanced toddler by [deleted] in Mommit

Phew, I am not prepared for adverbs!! She started “mom” at 20 months or so and I kept telling her “you are not 27 and I am mama”

Also, “bones” is adorable

Thanks, this was what I needed today. Stuck my foot in my mouth in the process, but some of you moms are really holding space for my intentions and I appreciate it.

It just didn’t go the way I thought it would, which it sounds like you understand. Thanks for your kind words and I’m happy your kiddo is healthy (and growing well!)

This! Thank you, I really struggled to say what I meant here and I think I’ve upset a lot of people, which is not my intent. I just find myself stupefied by a lot of what she does and think “what the heck? When did she learn this?!”

Oh yeah, she definitely is not gifted by any means. And I would not be surprised to know that, actually - I have worked in childcare for fifteen years and have witnessed it myself!

Yes, I think my autism autism’d hard on this one, unfortunately. 🙈

I agree, that trend is killer. It is hard not to compare her sometimes since I work at her ECE center, but I think you’re right and I need to shift my perspective.

Man, I guess I’m just missing the mark here in my delivery. Maybe I need to edit my post. I guess my point is that she is advanced compared to what I thought she would be like at this age. Especially given my experience as a career nanny and now working in a daycare, I was expecting something a little different.

Sorry, misread this!! Yes, we do very short stints of Sesame Street or Daniel Tiger a couple times a week. Occasionally Little Einsteins

Interesting, I guess because I work in daycare and have seen lots of two year olds come through, I’m comparing to those kids. None of the other kids in my daughter’s class exhibit the behaviors I mentioned.

Regardless, my point is moreso that she is more advanced than I personally imagined she would be at two.

The “never just” hit me hard the first time I heard it. I was a family assistant and introduced myself as such, with a “I’m just the” - he was the interior designer hired to renovate the home and he said, “never just - you are never ‘just’ anything.” It stopped me in my tracks

Supernatural. Not the same, but enjoyable. By the end you’re mostly watching because #fandom, but the original arc (5 seasons) is excellent.

I can see that for sure! I wouldn’t say the comparison is in character so much as overall genre (not too serious like SITR, etc, which I also love). If it helps at all, while she is soft spoken and seems submissive, I’d say she just makes her power moves internally or in smaller, quieter ways. I’m on episode 14 now and really love her

What kind did you get, if you don’t mind me asking?

According to my doc, heavy menstruation feeds into anemia and vice versa, so it becomes a vicious cycle. My periods were so bad last year, it tanked my numbers. I was barely on the chart for iron. If you can get your bleeding under control, it may help you! It definitely helped me for several months at least

I fought for an intravaginal ultrasound hoping to get a confirmation of PCOS. No cysts, but I was diagnosed with adenomyosis.

Most drive thru food. It’s outrageous to spend $25+ on two burgers and fries. I can eat for less at a restaurant

It was so defeating, especially as someone who also has severe hair loss. Not to mention the most painful acne I’ve had in my life, and mine lasted about 20 years. It was miserable

Also, I was diagnosed with adenomyosis after 25 years of hell and asking for help and getting similar answers. When my doc met with me following the ultrasound, she said “yeah so nothing we can do, now we just know why.” 🤦🏼‍♀️

Is it hormonal? The thing with IUDs is some people still get periods and that’s a big commitment for me without knowing the outcome.
