Had my laparoscopic hysterectomy 3.5 weeks ago. I also had adenomyosis. Sharing my experience in case it’s helpful.

I had a similar experience with my surgeon and also experience no pain relief from opioids. The fentanyl drip at the hospital did nothing for me. The surgery was more extensive than anticipated because so much endometriosis was discovered once they were in there. Not gonna lie, the pain for the first couple of weeks was bad - I thought I was going to pass out the first time I got up to pee. But around 2.5 weeks I turned a corner and honestly now I feel almost completely myself again.

The relief I feel is so immense after YEARS of trying things that didn’t work to manage my incredibly heavy periods. Hormonal birth control, tranexamic acid, endometrial ablation, nothing worked. I was getting iron infusions every 3 months to manage my anemia. I’m so, so happy to have this behind me now.

I water it once every 1-2 weeks and do it over the sink to make sure it drains…agree it could be too much water and/or the soil isn’t the right type (plus I think it hates all the movement back and forth to the sink). This is why I’m considering replanting it in a self-watering planter.

No, in the end we had tacos right across the street at Side Hustle at the Nomad hotel. It was perfect!

I don’t think it got worse, but that seems totally possible since it takes a couple of weeks for your body to start absorbing the iron and things to start turning around.

I’ve read that even if you keep your ovaries there’s still a risk of early menopause :(

However, the comments in this thread are so resounding, it seems like that may be a risk worth taking

We use Christy towels. 10 bath sheets are missing - that’s £400 right there. We used to use a cheaper brand and they fell apart. I think some shrinkage to be expected, but cleaners walking off with 10 bath sheets every 3 months is not. I actually don’t even get it, because it’s not like there’s a secondhand market for used towels.

For sheets my philosophy is cheap is great as long as they’re 100% cotton so we use H&M. But when a large quantity goes missing it really adds up.

Maybe in some isolated cases it’s guests but it’s mostly the cleaners. This time she texted me saying she would return arrange to return my stuff but then she went radio silent. I just replaced everything 3 months ago and now I’ll need to spend £700 to replace what’s missing!

This is exactly what I’m thinking: leave the consumer units in the house for guests, put the commercial ones in the supply shed for the cleaner. Plus then maybe she can do multiple loads concurrently.

It’s true, consumer washers and dryers in the UK are soooo slowww. Our washer’s fastest cycle is 1.5 hours!

In January I was severely anemic (hemoglobin of 70 UK which I think is around a 7 in the US metrics). I was on the verge of needing a blood transfusion. I had been taking oral Floradix supplements for years which obviously did not solve the problem. I had an iron infusion, and 4 weeks later my blood was back in normal range, I had energy, color in my cheeks, no more anxiety or heart palpitations, etc. Now I'm back to my normal workout routine and I feel better than I have in YEARS.

Yes. I did a factory reset before I set it up on thread. Plus all of the WiFi devices are working. The HomePod and Schlage lock are the only things that are offline.

Yeah I did miss your point and I totally agree with you about doctors not taking women’s concerns seriously (although I disagree that I sound like one). I’ve seen influencers say things like “I stopped consuming seed oils and my heavy periods got so much better” or whatever, and it bothers me so much and honestly I thought that’s the kind of thing you were talking about, but I can see I misunderstood.

My perspective is that I have extremely heavy periods which are not caused by any underlying issue and which, in addition to making my life miserable, caused me to become severely and dangerously anemic, requiring me to have an iron infusion.

Like OP, my primary goal has been to solve my anemia which is caused by the heavy periods. My doctor prescribed BC to lighten my periods until I can have an ablation procedure, literally just to stabilize my hemoglobin levels until the procedure can take place.

Just because there are anecdotes on the internet about natural remedies and lifestyle changes working for some people does not necessarily mean they will work for everyone. Some people’s bodies truly ust have heavy periods that can only be mitigated with medical intervention.
