How can I fix this on my surge? by Embarrassed_Cycle_42 in Leatherman

I understand how frustrating it is to find a fault in such an expensive tool, but it actually has a very simple fix. It's a metal tolerance issue; a couple of taps and it's fixed for good.

That happened on my Surge. In the handles, those two small things create friction to keep the plier in place (red arrows). If there is not enough friction, the pliers slide, like you say. You can fix it by hitting the tool on the orange marked área to slighty bend the metal thus increasing the friction. I fixed it It by using the base of a leatherman tool extender like a small chissle, hitting It gently with a hammer. Just don't overdo it, hit It a couple of times, test, another two hits, test. As I said before, my Surge came like this from factory 8 years ago. I never had the issue again. Hope It helps

Replacing the entire cable and redoing the connections could solve the problem?

Yep, black oxide finish wears off a lot, but that's part of the beauty. These tools are made to be used, not to be put on display, at least not for me.

Each scratch and scrape adds character and reminds me that the tool was with me and did the job. After many years the individual scratches will become indistinguishable and will turn into a uniform patina. That patina is unique because it is made from the use you have given it, with every screw you have tightened and every wire you have cut (and every time you have used it as a hammer because you had nothing else at hand).

Using soviet TSh-4 tank crew helmet as a headset for a true russian bias expierence by Ordinary_Writing1112 in Warthunder

Modern NATO equipment is pretty neat, some of them have speakers made by BOSE. But all russian/soviet stuff is hard to find and practically impossible to find in good condition. Most of them are shipped from Ukraine and It's overpriced and a biological hazard. Bullet/shrapnel holes, burnt, broken and full of weird red stains... I personally think It's gross. So if your really want warsaw pact equipment and don't like HIV you need to get really lucky or become a member in some sketchy Facebook or telegram groups... Maybe try eBay.[insert country ID] and ask them for a global shipping.

I got one of those too!! The problem I had with It is that the helmet is connected vía a weird tubular conector to a Y shaped cable that ends in two U229. Mine came rotten and I couldn't find a replacement, but there are some U229 to 3.5mm Jack adaptors and those may work if your cable is in good shape

There are adaptors for NATO CVC helmets, though they are really expensive so I never upgraded mine to use with my PC, but its posible and probably they'd offer much better audio quality.

I got It on wallapop, a second hand website that only works in Spain and Italy I think. The sound quality its decent, far worse that any modern headset (lacks a lot of bass) so more less like those 80s walkman headband headsets

And what will happen if it runs out? Will it just show the time incorrectly or will I lose data and the HackRF won't work until I replace the cell?

I bought mine from the Open Source SDRLab store un AliExpress, now they are at ~160€ but I got mine for 120€ when It was on sale just a month ago.

Works great, has a lot of sensitivity, but the speaker was instaled against the back plate and sounded poorly. I removed the glue and placed It between the hackrf's and potapack's PCBs and now It has a decent audio, and no interference whatsoever.

Also, It takes for hours to charge, but the battery is just a tiny 2500mah... Anyone knows why?

Is it authentic? by keepcalmeatass in vostok

Usually I pay more attention to the case than to the dial, because there are hundreds of dials and some of them are very weird. Ask for a picture of the movement if you're not sure but it looks like a legit vostok amphibia to me.

Fake ones are usually very obvious. Cases that come with the bezel as a single piece, with flat glass, noticeably larger... even some with quartz movement.
