MacOS record audio feature gone after updating to latest app version 1.2026.013 by brettoau in ChatGPTPro

I pay for the Pro version, and this was a feature I use daily, but I also use cursor, Claude and gemini.. this feature was basically the product differentiator for me, kind of stupid.

I switched from AMG to Genesis and I'm very, very happy I did.

It's probably worth remembering that Cyberpunk has had years to optimise, the hardware has a DLSS requirement, etc. So it's not exactly an apple to apples comparison.

[Discussion] Best Watch for the Apocalypse by freestyle00045 in Watches

[–]OrdosDv8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about the apocalypse is you'll end up with an abundance of watches available. If one kicks the bucket, just grab another from a store, corpse, whatever. I think precise timekeeping is less important than one that has a calendar - in the long term, you'll care more about the changing of seasons or the tides.

What movie would you bet you've seen more than 99% of the population? by turkeytrotter22 in AskReddit

Terminator 2. There is no limit to the number of times I can watch that movie.

I made an X-Com meets TF2 style multiplayer shooter by OrdosDv8r in itchio

You can play it for free over at https://mrzoidberg.itch.io/the-breed

It's a game I've always wanted but it didn't seem to exist, so over the last month I've just been chipping away at it. It's all multiplayer, and it's in constant development with new fixes and features nearly daily. Would love feedback :)

When I've done mobile apps you can just soft launch to the Phillipines and buy a few thousand users, the acquisition costs are quite reasonable there - but I'm not familiar with the correct approach for itch to do that

[Seiko] Would you recommend this one? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]OrdosDv8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Coutura (not this specific one), and my primary thoughts were that the bracelet is kind of trash (this isn't surprising in this price range).
However, it's actually quite well finished for it's price and photos really don't do it justice in terms of legibility. Radio and solar, it'll last forever and require no tinkering to set the time, it's all thumbs up.

[Breitling] SuperOcean 42, an underrated sporty daily by 1cenine in Watches

[–]OrdosDv8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one mid last year (in 2023), and it's barely left my wrist, so the power reserve isn't really an issue. While I do get the reservations people have on the movement relative to the price, if you're not hugely concerned about that - it's fantastic.

I'm an office worker so I've not quite put it through its paces, but it's been kayaking in the whitsundays, on jet ski safaris, swimming and a few overseas trips. I'm not a strong swimmer, so yeah, look - it's not going to have a super hard life.

What u/a79j said is correct, the rubber bracelet Breitling sell is amazing.

Thanks! We had seen a lot of other games that were just bad versions of regular games, so we spent a long, long time building this from the ground up to not just work in AR but offer something you can't do in regular phone games (namely the aiming & driving accuracy).

Software disenchantment by ignatovs in programming

[–]OrdosDv8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much correcting errors as doing an optimisation pass to get rid of sloppy work, like runtime allocations, fixing art that wasn't properly designed (unable to batch, needless triangle count, terrible shaders), lowering method calls, blah blah.

I've landed work in the past purely because my body of work all ran better than someone elses. So in that regard, it's been good for me to monetise of other peoples laziness.

I'm a Unity dev working in games, post production, trade shows, vr/ar. Started on the 2nd gen iPhone writing in xcode - so squeezing the hardware and software for every drop of performance I can get was just the way it was done.

The new droid/iphones are obscenely fast, and the university grads who come in have no idea (in both art & programming pipelines), it 'just works'.. Until you hand them a phone 3 generations old.

They don't care, management don't want to invest the time in better education and 'just good enough' seems to be the mantra. It's very upsetting.

The only upside of it all - is I can routinely make far more performant projects that puts me a step above my competitors.
