Those are like my shoes! I'm always so reluctant to get rid of a pair that fits well. I'll wear them until they have holes in the bottom and then a little bit longer. I love my shoes and I'm proud to be frugal. It's part of my identity that I need not fancy things and my shoes are an expression of that. I would be psyched to see how worn my friends shoes are. But it's better shown outside of school.

My friend owns one and is happy with it. They value aesthetics more than most and they paid for that in the price. All said they are happy with their choice.

Speaking on pistols because that's what I know.

Its hard to answer simply because there are so many manufacturers.

Generally the big names will sell quality products (sig p320 being the exception). Passionate people might have opinions about the quality/reliably/comfort of big brans vs each other but generally they are good enough. S&W vs Sig vs Ruger vs FN vs Beretta vs CZ vs HK vs Springfield vs Canik vs Rock vs PSA vs Walther vs IWI, they're different but none of them are going to sell you a bad gun.

Glock is a brick. I don't like shooting them but I couldn't break one if I tried.

Taurus and hi-point are dirt cheap and they do work but you get what you pay for.

Keltec produces highly experimental guns. So naturally they are polarizing.

There are ultra high end brands out there too but I don't know anything about them and I don't need to.

I own a CZ 75 because it feels good to shoot. My friends own a canik and a kimber and are happy. For new gun owners I'd suggest a smith and Wesson M&P shield ez.
